Job SummaryThe Conflict Resolution Specialist supports the firm's risk management needs by collecting information for thorough conflict of interest checks on lateral attorney hiring and proposed new representations. This role involves reviewing and analyzing new matter requests and conflicts information related to firm acceptance of lateral hires and new matters.
The successful candidate will assist with resolving conflicts issues and work closely with Conflicts Attorneys and Senior Conflicts Counsel on special projects, such as bankruptcies.
This position requires a dynamic individual who can work independently with attention to detail, adapt to changing priorities, and meet deadlines.
Responsibilities- Analyze new matter requests for compliance with firm policies and applicable rules of professional responsibility.
- Review conflict of interest reports for lateral hires and new firm matters to identify potential conflicts or resolution strategies.
- Assist Conflicts Attorneys with outreach to impacted attorneys within the firm.
- Ensure engagement letters comply with firm templates and include necessary language.
- Review new matter scope communications for compliance with firm policies and risk management concerns.
- Collaborate with Conflicts Director, Manager, and Assistant Manager on training programs for new Conflicts Information Specialists and Analysts.
- Support Conflicts Director and Attorneys with special projects, such as bankruptcies, lateral groups, or ethics walls.
- Participate in testing, development, and analysis activities related to electronic tools, software, applications, and new processes.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Minimum four years of increasingly responsible, directly-related conflicts law firm experience or practice support/ legal assistant capacity.
- Strong knowledge of conflicts of interest issues and technical systems associated with law firm new business intake.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Advanced skill in operating standard office equipment, including desktop computers, facsimile machines, copiers, and telephones.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, primarily Word and Excel.
Crowell & Moring LLP offers a competitive compensation package, including a salary range of $67,000-$90,000, comprehensive benefits, and progressive options such as back-up childcare, wellness programs, cultural events, and social activities.
The firm is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices in accordance with applicable laws. Additional compensation may include a discretionary bonus. Other benefits include healthcare, vision, dental, retirement, and all-purpose leave.
