The Nursing Education Specialist will conduct health education and outreach initiatives in both Spanish and English for designated patient groups within a specific community or clinic setting. This role involves delivering patient education courses tailored to the assigned areas of care while ensuring compliance with hospital and departmental policies.
Responsibilities include:
- Patient Education: Facilitate educational sessions for patients across various age groups, including Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric populations.
- Communication: Collaborate with relevant staff to coordinate patient care, including interactions with pharmacy and specialty clinics.
- Customer Service: Provide exceptional service to patients and their families, ensuring their needs are met.
- Training and Development: Participate in the planning and execution of educational programs, offering training to patient groups in assigned clinics.
- Community Outreach: Enhance program visibility through community outreach efforts, engaging in educational initiatives and collaborating with local providers to ensure seamless continuity of care.
- Wellness Counseling: Assist patients in achieving their health goals by providing guidance on nutrition, parenting education, and medication management.
- Administrative Duties: Handle various administrative tasks, including monitoring budgets and preparing reports, while contributing to research projects aimed at improving service delivery.
- Professional Development: Commit to ongoing professional growth by participating in educational opportunities, reading current literature, and attending relevant workshops.
- Patient Safety: Adhere to all patient safety protocols, proactively identifying and addressing potential risks to ensure a safe environment for all patients.
Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED equivalent required. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is essential. Additional language skills in Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo are a plus. CPR certification for Healthcare Providers or Professional Rescuers must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
