As a Hospital Security Officer at Carilion Clinic, you will play a vital role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff. This is a challenging and rewarding position that requires a strong sense of responsibility and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of law enforcement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patrol hospital facilities to prevent and investigate security breaches, including unlocked doors and open windows.
- Assist and coordinate with outside law enforcement agencies as needed.
- Provide security for prisoners, mental health patients, special events, dignitaries, and staff as required.
- Respond quickly and professionally to all calls for service, including traffic incidents, criminal and non-criminal incidents, and requests for information or assistance.
- Enforce laws, investigate crimes, and process crime scenes.
- Direct traffic and monitor and enforce parking regulations.
- Write and file all required reports in a timely manner.
Education: High school or equivalent required.
Experience: No experience required, but previous law enforcement or security experience is preferred.
Licensure/Certification: Must meet Virginia minimum training standards for law enforcement officers and be currently certified as a law enforcement officer by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services. Valid Virginia driver's license required.
Other: Must possess a driving record within the scope of Carilion's Driver Regulations. Due to Virginia's state law, the applicant must be at least 21 years of age. Computer keyboarding skills. Good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Meets Virginia's minimum requirements for law enforcement officers.
