Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Pipe Welding Specialist to join our team at Southwest Shipyard LP. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for fabricating, installing, and repairing piping systems on marine vessels.

Southwest Shipyard LP is a leading provider of gas freeing and cleaning services, steaming, and flaring services, barge and boat repair, surface preparation and painting, water treatment, and new construction services to the commercial and government marine industry.

Responsibilities
  • Fabricate, install, and repair piping systems on marine vessels according to detailed specifications.
  • Perform various welding techniques to join and repair pipes with precision, accounting for different metals and wall thicknesses.
  • Inspect welds to identify and correct defects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and codes.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and participate in regular safety briefings.
Requirements
  • Proficiency in English required; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Proficiency in multiple welding techniques (SMAW, FCAW).
  • Ability to work in challenging conditions, such as confined spaces and elevated platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of pipefitting and layout skills.
  • Familiarity with industry safety standards (OSHA, ASME, etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and work orders.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card.
