About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager/Associate Director, US Thought Leader Liaison – Systemic to join our team in this field-based role. As a Thought Leader Liaison, you will be responsible for building and nurturing strategies with US Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs). This critical role will help us understand the dynamics of the rare disease community, obtain insights that advance educational offerings by Apellis, and ultimately build advocacy among treaters while galvanizing focus and collaboration internally on KOL engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Create and manage US Commercial engagement plans for leading US KOLs, including establishing commercial objectives and measuring against goals. Lead the commercial organization in executing the plan.
  2. Establish and nurture relationships with US KOLs nationally. Support KOL engagements with the US Commercial Team, Senior Leadership, and Executive Committee throughout the year and at congresses.
  3. Partner closely with KOLs and treating physicians to identify and refine peer-to-peer program offerings, ensuring they resonate with key customers.
  4. Maintain the promotional speaker bureau, identifying and recruiting potential speakers, training them on approved promotional slide decks, partnering with the HCP marketing team on planning the annual speaker training event, and assisting speakers with completing annual compliance training.
  5. Partner with the HCP marketing team on executing commercial HCP advisory boards: help identify suitable advisors based on objectives and agenda, provide input into meeting objectives and content.
  6. Partner with the HCP marketing team on content development for peer-to-peer engagements by providing input on speaker programs and congress symposia.
  7. Build and nurture strong, positive relationships with key cross-functional partners, including medical affairs and field teams.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required; Master's degree preferred.
  • At least 6+ years of biotech/pharma experience; experience in Hem/Onc is preferred; experience in rare diseases is a plus.
  • Experience in sales or customer-facing roles is preferred.
  • Proven ability to develop productive relationships with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
  • Able to proactively spot issues on the team or in the business, striving to solve them rapidly.
  • Able to think of alternative solutions to achieve desired results when faced with roadblocks.
  • Demonstrate integrity, understanding relevant rules and regulations.
  • Ability to lead a cross-functional team, gain alignment across functions, and manage cross-functional execution of engagement plans.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence across functions and varying levels of the organization.
  • Ability to responsibly manage budgets for individual projects.
  • Navigate and succeed in a fast-paced, data- and results-driven environment.
  • Able to travel 50-75%, including cross-country.
