About Respiratory Therapist Role at Mass General Brigham

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Cooley Dickinson Health Care, a member of the Mass General Brigham system. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will play a critical role in administering respiratory therapy treatments to assigned patients.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Administer various technical duties to provide respiratory therapy treatments to patients, utilizing complete range of respiratory equipment and controlling factors such as respiratory ratio, pressure, volume, and oxygen levels.
  • Perform pulmonary consultations and make recommendations for modes of therapy, frequency, medication, and duration as requested by physicians and supervisors.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of therapy by auscultation, laboratory tests, and clinical observation, reporting significant changes to attending physicians and supervisors.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Set up, apply, and administer therapy as directed, using complete range of respiratory equipment.
  • Perform basic bedside pulmonary testing and advanced pulmonary function testing in the pulmonary function laboratory using highly technical and complex equipment.
  • Oversee the training of new personnel rotating through the Blood Gas Laboratory and perform techniques used in blood gas analysis.
  • Maintain required records, charts, and prepare charges for submission to accounting.
  • Provide direction, assistance, and guidance to assigned personnel and participate in teaching basic respiratory therapy procedures to other hospital staff.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or equivalent required.
  • Respiratory Therapist license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts required.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
  • NRP certification from the American Academy of Pediatrics required within 3 months of hire or transfer into position.
  • Six months to one year of experience preferred.

Estimated Salary Range: $60,000 - $80,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
