Job Summary

New Narrative Ltd is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Residential Support Specialist to join our team. As a Residential Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing supportive services to adults with serious mental illness, ensuring a clean and organized environment, and assisting with medication administration as ordered by a licensed medical professional.

Key Responsibilities
  • Understand and implement Oregon rules regarding Home and Community Based mental health services, guaranteeing residents a maximum level of freedom and personal rights.
  • Assist clients with daily living skills, such as keeping appointments and completing household tasks.
  • Support clients in achieving individual goals outlined in their person-centered recovery plans and Residential Service Plans.
  • Oversee house safety, including fire drills, security of the house at night, and resolving disputes among residents.
  • Ensure the facility is clean, orderly, and safe at all times.
  • Provide healthy meals and maintain kitchen cleanliness.
  • Proactively support healthy eating and an active lifestyle for program participants.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of food storage areas, common areas, and employee offices.
  • Complete all shift duties required by each individual facility.
  • Assist residents with deep cleaning and laundry.
  • Conduct contraband checks as allowed by residents and OARs.
  • Distribute medication in accordance with physicians' orders.
  • Document all interactions with residents during each shift according to policy and Oregon Administrative Rules.
  • Document all critical incidents in a timely manner and notify supervisors immediately.
Requirements
  • Must be 18 years of age and capable of implementing emergency procedures and disaster plans.
  • QMHA credentials preferred.
  • Must have a criminal records clearance through the State Mental Health Division prior to starting employment.
  • Must be tested for tuberculosis within two weeks of date of hire.
  • Must undergo a minimum of 16 hours pre-service orientation.
