Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Patient Access Specialist to join our team at UTMB Health. As a key member of our Access Center, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service and ensuring seamless communication with patients and healthcare providers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-level customer service skills to patients and healthcare providers via phone, ensuring a positive and professional experience.
  • Multi-task and prioritize calls to schedule appointments and address patient concerns in a timely manner.
  • Analyze caller concerns and determine the best course of action to resolve and address their needs.
  • Efficiently communicate patient requests and determine the best solution, escalating issues as necessary.
  • Preregister patients, obtain demographic and insurance information, and update records as required.
  • Work with Access Center nursing staff to quickly identify and resolve urgent patient issues.
  • Facilitate physician consultation requests and assist with patient referrals when appropriate.
  • Utilize software applications, including AMCOM, EPIC, and Invision, to store and manage patient information and facilitate patient care.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • (High School or equivalent and two years customer service and/or clerical experience).
  • Knowledge of UTMB regulations and guidelines, as well as software applications used to store and manage patient information.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks.
