Construction Leadership Expert

The Construction Superintendent plays a pivotal role in ensuring the successful execution of commercial or residential construction projects. This involves coordinating subcontractors, materials, and equipment while adhering to established specifications, schedules, and budgets.
- Main Responsibilities:
- In collaboration with the project team, establish and maintain a master project schedule, incorporating a detailed 2-week lookahead plan that outlines daily goals and labor activities.
- Conduct preconstruction meetings with major subcontractors, utilizing the Chesapeake template for agenda planning.
- Proactively schedule subcontractors, consultants, and vendors to ensure timely completion, particularly on critical path items.
- Maintain close communication with subcontractors to guarantee compliance with contracted scope of work regarding both schedule and quality control.
- Collaborate with Chesapeake's Safety Department to develop job-site specific safety plans, aligning with our comprehensive jobsite safety policy.
- Coordinate and monitor daily activities, assisting in future planning and maintaining a clean and organized job site.
- Perform quality control duties, inspecting material deliveries and installation details to meet project documents, including approved submittals.
- Issue notices of non-compliance to subcontractors regarding quality of work or scheduling.
- Maintain a daily log and upload photos of activities on the job site.
- Identify conflicts in construction progress and address them with the appropriate parties or senior project leadership for resolution.
- Preside over weekly subcontractor meetings to coordinate work and maintain accurate documentation of discussion topics and decisions made.
- Prepare RFI's (to be formally submitted by the Project Manager) and include proposed solutions.
- Review and understand approved Material Submittals.
- Ensure subcontractors have corrected any deficiencies identified by the project team.
- Coordinate required inspections with local jurisdictions as well as third-party inspections.
- Perform job progress and completion punch list identification and completion.
- At least 7 years of experience in commercial construction, preferably as a Superintendent or similar position, with working knowledge of all construction trades.
- Familiarity with construction management and office productivity software, including MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project, Procore, or other web-based or mobile document and project management solutions.
- Possess a valid Driver's license to travel to assigned job sites.
- Maintain OSHA 30, First Aid, and CPR Certification.
- Competitive salary: $80,000 - $180,000 per annum, based on experience and qualifications.
