A Key Role in Supporting Student Success
This position plays a vital part in assisting the Principal in directing the day-to-day operations of an assigned school and in developing and implementing policies, programs, curriculum activities, and budgets.
Note: The school assignment will be reviewed annually and is subject to change pending student enrollment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Coordinate all testing programs at the school
• Assist with the implementation and monitoring of the school/district Title I plan and all activities
• Assist with the organization of and monitoring of the work of all Professional Learning Committees at the school site
• Assist with implementation of MLSS processes and appoint individuals to meet with all committees in a consistent and timely manner, as necessary
• Assist with monitoring and reporting at-risk data
• Work with principal and school staff on 90-day plans to address at-risk population
• Responsible for working with the principal to develop and implement plans to reduce chronic absenteeism
• Assist the principal with the building/district plan to provide emotional/social support at the school site
• Coordinate school plans to provide emotional/social supports for students
• Assist the principal in providing professional leadership to organize, administer, supervise, and evaluate a creative school program
• Assist in establishing an optimal learning environment within the school, including managing the facility
• Assist principal in establishing a culture for learning to include expectations for learning and achievement
• Encourage classroom practices that provide opportunities for all students to achieve their academic potential
• Provide and maintain an environment where optional student growth can take place
• Assist in creating an environment of respect and rapport
• Carry out actions necessary to establish, maintain, and enforce discipline at the school site
• Carry out actions necessary to maintain attendance records, attendance information, and attendance follow-up. Responsible for any reports relevant to attendance and or discipline
• Be present at most activities, sports events and school functions, when necessary, unless other provisions are made
• Responsible for equipment inventory
• Responsible for making pre and post inventory checks and keeping records up to date
• Responsible for student rules and guidelines handbook and for translation to both languages for all school/central office documents
• Assist with supervision of school grounds, halls, cafeteria, and student/teacher parking areas
• Assist with school bus discipline and maintaining contact with drivers
• Responsible for working with counselors to help all students
• Set up parent-teacher conferences
• Assist with the implementation of the district professional development plan
• Ensure that all school programs and activities conform to district guidelines
• Assist the principal with keeping records and preparing reports required by District policy
• Assist with organization of and monitoring the work of all Professional Learning Committees at school site
• Follow board policies and administrative rules and regulations
• Execute district policy as set forth by the Board of Education
• Performs the duties of the Principal in his or her absence
• Assist principals with the observation/evaluation process
• Assist principal with monitoring teacher progress by frequently observing classrooms, conferring with teachers about instructional matters, and maintaining a system of positive supervision
• Provides clear and direct feedback to teachers based on analysis of practice
• Consistently analyzes teacher practice through ongoing classroom observations, data analysis, and examination of student work
• Use most current State and District mandated evaluation systems for teacher evaluations and to observe employee performance, record observations of domains and/or competencies to conduct evaluation conferences with staff
• Assist the principal and follow procedures consistent with the Teacher Performance Evaluation Plan
• Assist principal with supervising Ancillary Staff, Educational Assistants, and Secretaries
• Assist teachers in evaluating methods and materials and developing effective learning plans and classroom management techniques
• Assist in identifying strengths and areas of performance needing growth or improvement
• Work cooperatively with instructional staff in curriculum development, implementation, and in instructional effectiveness
• Assist the principal in monitoring the progress of the instructional improvement plans
• Communicate effectively with all members of the school district and community
• Assist principal with maintaining effective communication with school community
• Assist principal with communicating with families or individuals about the instructional program, about individual students and engagement of families in the instructional program
• Assist principal and staff with communicating with students to include expectations for learning, directions for activities and explanation of content
• Other duties as assigned by principal and/or superintendent.
Requirements and Qualifications
• Valid New Mexico Public Education Department (PED) Administrative License (Level 3B)
• Personal discipline and willingness to commit significant time, effort, and focus to the wide array of duties of the position, both large and small
• Experience working with and leading alternative settings to meet diverse and individualized student needs
• Verifiable work and/or character references
• Experience in leading schoolwide programs and professional development, preferred

Estimated Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 per year
