What you will doUnder general direction, participates as a leader of the Development Team to achieve department and project objectives on large projects, inclusive of new on-site renewable energy systems and energy storage.Leads engineering, process or financial tasks during both preliminary & detailed development of projectsConceptualize energy retrofit and renewable energy projects for customers that contain a broad set of JCI offerings as appropriate to meet the customer’s requirements.Supports engineering, process or financial tasks during solution design or during detailed development on large complex projectsResponsible to establish an ongoing partnership with the customer on assigned projectsAssists as needed in developing the customer business case for the conceptual solutionLeads preliminary data collection and modeling efforts for assigned opportunitiesValidates assumptions made during solution designBuilds a detailed development budget and scopeWorks with operations team and outside partners to develop project estimate and scope of work, as well as a preliminary & detailed energy savings & financial model (ROI),Assists in preparing proposals and other customer communication documentsActs as domain expert for a specific functional area, specifically renewable energy and energy storageLeads cross-functional teams in the development of multiple components of the bundled salePerforms detailed engineering or financial analysis to quantify cost savings or other customer benefitsAssists in technical or financial benchmarking as neededLeads in the development of customer baselinesProvides risk analysis for the complete solutionPresents to technical buyer as requiredAssists in presentations to economic buyers or C-level clientsParticipates in transition meetings with Operations to ensure project scope and objectives, timeline and customer requirements are properly understoodResponsibility for creating and managing budgets, timelines, and quality of assigned opportunitiesDevelops and maintains relationships with suppliers and vendors as well as facility mid-level technical managersResponsible for remaining current with relevant engineering or design standards and practicesMay provide post-contract design review supportHow you will do itBy collaborating closely with our sales force.By traveling to customer sites throughout Hawaii, with being able to support western states, including California.By applying project management skills related to developing work breakdown structures, estimating costs, and developing schedules.By applying advanced energy engineering, engineering design, and financial modeling skills.By communicating with customer technical contacts, utility contacts, subcontractors, local branch offices, etc. to proactively obtain information needed to develop great projects for our customers.What we look forRequired Bachelor's degree in business, engineering or a related field as appropriateFive to eight years experience in designing / selling building systems, renewable energy systems, energy modeling, construction or facility managementDemonstrated vertical market expertise in solar PV and energy storage requiredExperience with permitting and utility interconnection requirements.Possesses strong analytical capabilities and ability to manage tasks associated with development of projectsFully competent in analysis and assessment of facility systemsDemonstrated ability to lead engineering teams, work effectively with others, drive for results, focus on the customer, & acts ethicallyHas excellent written and verbal communication skills and is comfortable working in customer-facing situationsSolid computer skills, including an understanding of MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS ProjectExcellent business analysis skills used to create compelling business casesAbility to travel approximately 25%Bachelor's degree in Engineering - Mechanical or Electrical.Third-party technical or business certifications are desirable, such as PE or CEM certification. Solar PV certifications, such as NAPCEP.Expertise with solar PV and energy modeling software such as Helioscope, PVsyst, Energy ToolbaseExperience with public sector vertical markets a plus.Who we areJohnson Controls is an equal employment opportunity and affirmative action employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, protected veteran status, status as a qualified individual with a disability, or any other characteristic protected by law.
