Job DescriptionSupply Chain ManagerThe Supply Chain Manager has a logical, analytical mindset and the ability to perform financial and mathematical projections about material and supply-related costs. They have a hunger for problem-solving and rigorous attention to detail, staying organized as they manage a large network of suppliers and distributors. The supply chain manager possesses strong communication skills, a desire to facilitate growth and innovation, and a strong teamwork attitude. They maintain positive relationships both internally and externally.Objectives of this roleMaintain positive relationships with suppliers and distributorsWork strategically to secure materials through contracts, forecasting, and negotiatingEnsure customer satisfaction through scheduling and on-time productionMaintain inventory appropriate with open customer POs while minimizing lossContinuously improve department processes and procedures to eliminate inefficiencies and errorsEffectively lead the Supply Chain department through regular communication, meetings, process reviewResponsibilitiesProcess and confirm customer purchase ordersManage production calendar and write production scheduleForecast materials needs with or without customer provided dataProcure ingredients and packaging by placing purchase orders, accounting for FIFO inventory methods and just-in-time logisticsConsolidate raw material purchases and shipments where possibleOversee inventory valuation and perform monthly inventory adjustmentsMaintain and build strong vendor relationshipsNegotiate raw material prices and maintain necessary raw material contractsConsider opportunities for profit in raw material procurement and salesWork with accounting department to prioritize vendor payments based on production schedulingOversee inbound raw material shipments and outbound finished goods shipments and initiate both as necessaryMonitor obsolete inventory and surplus inventoryNegotiate and facilitate surplus and ad hoc raw material salesCreate outbound shipment summaries for accounting to bill fromReview and initiate billing activities for raw material storage, sample shipments, and other parcel shipmentsLead costing exercises for current and potential customersOversee Supply Chain Assistant and their duties (including but not limited to order monitoring, inbound and outbound shipping logistics, and inventory management)Prioritize department needs and delegate or reassign tasks as necessary while effectively utilizing direct reportsSkills and qualificationsDemonstrated leadership abilities and interpersonal skillsWorking experience of current or related inventory management softwareGreat written and verbal communication skillsStrong negotiation skillsStrong analytical skills and problem-solving mindsetHigh level of organization and attention to detailAbility to lead, train and mentor employees individually and as a teamStrong computer related skills working with multiple software s and systems (Inventory control software, Microsoft Office suite, Google drive and document management)Working conditionsThis position will require someone energized by bringing order to each task. Professionalism and matters of privacy should be maintained at all times. The ability to stay calm under intense pressure is required. Multitasking and staying focused while being continually interrupted is key to being successful in this position. Work independently with little to no supervision at a fast pace.
