PURPOSE OF JOB: 

The purpose of this position is to assist in the facilitation of various alternative sentencing programs offered through the Office of Community Court and to provide case management for individuals participating in those programs. Duties include, but are not limited to: tracking program progress of participants and promoting participant success; reporting participant progress to Judges and court staff; facilitating and participating in community outreach; facilitating program-related classes for offenders and community participants; maintaining participants’ case files and statistical data; supervising community service workers and related projects; and providing administrative support.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The following duties are normal for this job. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be assigned. Incumbent may perform other duties not articulated in this job description as determined by the court administrator or appropriate designee.

Administrative Duties: 

Provides case management for offenders assigned to the Restorative Justice, Teens Learning Control (TLC), Community Service and other court administered programs

Makes appropriate employment and educational referrals for offenders

Acts as liaison to community Restorative Boards and other court partners

Conducts comprehensive assessments and referral recommendations for program participants (offenders)

Monitors and evaluates effectiveness of programs in which offenders are placed

Facilitates weekly or quarterly program classes

Identifies community service projects working closely with City NPUs and other City representatives or entities

Oversees community service participant placement and/or assignments

Facilitates court program participant intake process

Ensures program modules and other court program information is updated as necessary

 

Communication: 

Reports the offender’s compliance with Court ordered sentences, activities and/or programs

Submits bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports of all activities, data collected and program evaluation forms in given timeframe

Attends and conducts meetings with the community, service providers, Restorative Board members, staff members and agencies associated with the Court

Ability to create promotional and/or collateral marketing materials to inform targeted communities of available court programs

Reports updates needed to court programs website

 

Record Keeping and Documentation: 

Maintains and updates offender case files

Maintains and updates program statistics

Maintains record of service providers and performance reviews of programs provided

Maintains minutes of Restorative Board meetings and all Board related information

Maintains class attendance logs

Maintains and updates program related materials

 

Marginal Job Functions

Knowledge/Skills/Ability (KSAs):

Has thorough knowledge of court or similar agency or service provider practices, services, policies and procedures as necessary in the completion of daily responsibilities. Has thorough knowledge of applicable laws, ordinances, policies, standards and regulations pertaining to the specific duties and responsibilities of the job or the ability to acquire necessary knowledge. Knows how to keep abreast of any changes in policy, methods, operations, budgetary and equipment needs, etc. as they pertain to departmental operations and activities. Is able to effectively communicate and interact with subordinates, elected officials, management, employees and members of the general public. Is able to assemble information and make written reports and documents in a concise, clear and effective manner. Has good organizational, leadership, management, human relations, de-escalation and technical skills. Has excellent written and verbal communication skills. Is able to use independent judgement and discretion in managing subordinates including the handling of emergency situations, determining and deciding upon procedures to be implemented, setting priorities, maintaining standards, and resolving problems. Has the ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply regulations, procedures, and related information. Has the mathematical ability to handle required calculations using statistical calculations. Is knowledgeable and proficient with computers. Is able to read, understand and interpret materials related to duties and responsibilities of the job.
