Job Description:

The RF Systems Engineer is responsible for leading the systems engineering team in the development, integration, and implementation of complex systems. This role involves overseeing the technical aspects of projects, ensuring that systems are designed to meet the required specifications and standards. The RF Systems Engineer will work closely with other engineering disciplines, project managers, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions. This position supports the Space & Airborne Systems (SAS) division, a great team of talented professionals with world class technical expertise who take a collaborative approach to engineering and enjoy working together.  We have a long history of innovative and exceptional performance; we have earned our place as a trusted provider to our customers.

In this position, you will bring your systems engineering background to a system engineering role where you can make a broad impact to programs and projects that are critical to our customers

Essential Functions:

  • Research and translate technical information into training materials, manuals or web-based documents for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Implement and maintain robust requirements management processes to ensure all system and project requirements are clearly defined, traced, and validated.
  • Champion the use of MBSE methodologies to create comprehensive system models that enhance communication, understanding, and efficiency across the engineering team.
  • Generate and maintain ConOps documents that clearly articulate system capabilities, user needs, and operational environments.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including customers, project managers, and other engineering teams, to ensure alignment of system objectives and deliverables.
  • Support I&T test events and coordinate with customers to lead critical demonstrations.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and supervision to engineering staff, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within an Agile framework.
  • Manage technical subcontractors effectively, ensuring that all subcontracted work meets quality standards and integrates seamlessly with the overall system design.
  • Work with customers and functional organizations to establish course objectives, contents and outcomes.
  • Familiarity with RF
  • Be able to lead a multi-disciplinary team that is geographically dispersed
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Travel to support team based out of Salt Lake City, UT

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
  • Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Verilog and experience in RTL design of FPGA or ASIC.
  • Experience in wireless system design and protocols.
  • Experience in real-time embedded programming at the hardware layer interface.
  • Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Education, Science, Math, Computer Engineering, Technology.
  • Scientific programming and algorithm development
  • RF system fundamentals and waveform processing
  • Lead work planning using SAFe
  • Experience using Cameo, Doors
  • Networking fundamentals.
  • RF Estimation and classification.

 

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $106,500 - $197,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. L3Harris also offers a variety of benefits, including health and disability insurance, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, EAP, education assistance, parental leave, paid time off, and company-paid holidays. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements.
