The Opportunity

The Program Test Analyst will specifically be supporting the Bank Financial Crimes Shared Services Team (Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Fraud, and Disputes). On technology work efforts, the candidate will partner with key collaborators in Agile Product Management and Information Technology (IT) – not just during the test execution phase but throughout the lifecycle of the project – including test planning and test case conditioning. The ideal candidate will be experienced in acceptance testing and will also have the business sense to understand how the Fraud / Financial Crimes technology features fit into the broader risk management ecosystem at USAA.

As a dedicated Program Test Analyst, you will be responsible for performing software testing for USAA's programs and/or systems that support product performance and business operations. The incumbent will plan, creates and implements tests for release cycles. This person reports defects during the testing, troubleshooting and analysis cycle that will result in quality testing. Works in collaboration with internal and external partners to deliver timely feedback and ensure quality product and systems’ performance. May perform regression testing and/or compliance review testing of processes affected by system enhancements and Program Releases. The position ensures all activities are performed in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO, Charlotte, NC, or Tampa, FL. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

What you'll do:
  • Collaborates with business subject matter authorities to ensure maintenance and accuracy of updated business procedures within the project management environment.
  • Creates robust test scenarios from a business end-user perspective to ensure updated, innovative and quality systems that are within compliance regulations.
  • Performs tests and troubleshoots issues to identify the root cause of the resulting problem.
  • Triages and reports system defects identified in the testing plan to appropriate partners in IT.
  • Maintains leadership informed on testing status. Provides an objective review of testing activities and results. Makes applicable recommendations to deliver a superior product.
  • Serves in an advisory capacity to internal staff and resolves escalated issues as they arise.
  • Sets expectations on testing activities and adheres to timelines related to testing.
  • Serves as a resource to less experienced team members.
  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

What you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • 4 years of relevant business applications and business support experience, to include software or quality assurance testing experience, within a financial services organization.
  • Working experience in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) methodologies within agile projects.
  • Ability to communicate and effectively write testing rules, standards and scripts.
  • Working knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), and and project system of record applications.
  • Working knowledge of Banking products and services.
  • Foundational knowledge of U.S. banking laws and regulations.

What sets you apart:

  • Experience working in banks / financial institutions / fintech.
  • Experience in financial crimes – e.g., Fraud, AML – OR in another Bank Risk and Compliance domain.
  • Direct experience in User Acceptance Testing or Automation Testing.
  • Experience working on an Agile software development team (e.g., Product Owners, Scrum Masters, developers).
  • Basic project management skills, such as leading meetings and driving action items.
  • US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner.

What we offer:

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $74,210 - $133,570.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
