Our client, a leading engineering firm, is seeking a Controls Engineer to join their team. As a Controls Engineer, you will be part of the Engineering Department supporting the Controls Team. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, great organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team which will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title: Controls Engineer

Location: Poughkeepsie, New York

Pay Range: $80,000 - $120,000

What's the Job?

  • Responsible for creating electrical schematics, PLC program logic, and electrical enclosure designs within the constraints determined by the given project, time, cost, performance.
  • Completes an electrical design for a project with supervision. These responsibilities include estimating engineering hours required for a project, electrical enclosure design and detail, electrical schematic design, hands-on PLC and HMI programming, hands-on Robotic programming desirable, knowledge of vision systems is desirable, project documentation, including bill of materials, project checking, and manufacturing assembly support.
  • Responsible for ensuring that any of his or her own work is inspected and approved by a qualified engineer or engineering manager.
  • Responsible for testing and verification of new or modified programs. Assist the functional testing of the equipment and support customers during FAT.
  • Responsible for the proper documentation of his or her work, including ECR’s, machine manuals, checklists, and others.

What's Needed?

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, plus 4 to 5 years of related experience.
  • Sound understanding of electrical design, schematics, and electrical codes in regard to machine tool design.
  • Sound computer skills, CAD for Schematics is desirable.
  • Experience with machine tool equipment, electrical design.
  • Experienced PLC programmer. Omron, AB, and Siemens are desirable.
