Fun Fact: 1 in 4 French fries are produced by McCain Foods.Position Summary:Under limited supervision, the Sanitation Laborer performs any of a variety of cleaning and sanitation work in all areas of the plant following established sanitation standards, procedures and practices. The sanitation laborer uses a variety of equipment such as high pressure hoses and cleaning chemicals during their shift. The sanitation laborer completes all assigned work on a daily basis while working in a safe manner following all safety rules, including LOTO, and JSA's. This position supports Production and Quality Control. Key Responsibilities:Performs deep cleaning and sanitizing of equipment as listed in Sanitation SOP's.Cleans and sanitizes the production and packaging areas and other areas as assigned.Flushes, scrubs and sanitizes ceilings, walls, floors, overhead pipes and other areas as assigned, cleans and wipes lights and electrical cords.Cleans mats, carts and buckets used in the production area on a daily basis.Measure and mixes appropriate chemical cleaning agents per specification.Refills and distributes chemical cleaning agent containers as needed.Understand and be familiar with the inventory control process and procedure within sanitation department.Uses high pressure cleaning apparatuses and mixes and applies potentially hazardous chemical compounds and solutions.Completes assigned duties on the master cleaning schedule at specified frequency.Operates fork lift, scissor lift and floor scrubber as needed.Returns all equipment to its proper place after each use.Promotes and adheres to company safety work rules and regulations.Understands and follows all established sanitation and safety rules, procedures, and practices.Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent. Must have the ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions.Must have ability to effectively present information before groups of customers or employees.Must have ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units or measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.The person in this position is required to obtain and maintain a factory issued power industrial vehicle (PIV) license within 30 days of employment.
Physical Demand: Constant: standing on regularly scheduled shift and reach with hands and arms.Frequently: Walk, use of hands to finger, handle or feel; and talk or hear.Occasionally: Sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch crawl, lift up to 50 pounds.
