Emergency Medicine Assistant Director Opening in MALocated in Gardner60m to BostonThe healthcare is an independent two hospital system in north central Massachusetts consisting of one hospital in Gardner and one hospital in Athol. We are currently seekingone well-qualified BE/BC emergency physician to fill a permanent position and an emergency physician to fill the administrative role of Assistant Director of Emergency Medicine.The hospital in Gardner has a new 21 bed ED which sees 27,000 patients per year and includes a fast track service. There is a robust mid-level provider program which provides 24 hours of coverage per day. The ED has an exceptional and collegial nursing staff. The hospital has an adult ICU, pediatric unit, adult psychiatric unit, geriatric psychiatric unit and wound clinic. There is 24/7 specialist coverage in cardiology, OB/GYN, orthopedics, general surgery and pediatrics as well as a strong hospitalist service. EPs work a combination of 8, 9 and 12 hour shifts.The hospital in Athol is a critical access hospital with an 8 bed ED which sees 11,000 patients per year. A brand new ED is scheduled to begin construction in April, 2016. EPs work 12 hours shifts with the option to work 24 hour shifts.The emergency departments at this Healthcare offer the following: Direct bedding of patients with bedside triage and registration Elimination of oral contrast for most abdominal/pelvis CTs Ability to schedule low-risk chest pain patients for an outpatient stress test within 72 hours of discharge from the ED Implementation of protocols and practice guidelines for stroke, STEMI, sepsis, DKA and pain management PA and medical students rotating through the ED New ultrasound machine The option of a benefited part-time position (1040 hours per year) Flexible schedulingAbout Gardner, Massachusetts:The Greater Gardner area is a safe and friendly family-oriented community with much to offer: Affordable cost of living Well-regarded public and private schools Outstanding municipal golf course Next door to a Community College Conveniently located near family recreation, sports and shopping Gardner has 21,000 residents and is located: 60 miles from Boston 30 miles from Worcester, the states second largest city 15 miles from Wachusetts Mountain Ski Area 15 minutes from a variety of hiking and bike trails, apple farms, pumpkin patches abundant lakes and other outdoor recreation
