He/she will partner with key stakeholders to ensure best practices are known and put into practice, supported by accurate reporting and consistent SOP's. They will work with Corporate and Site Distribution Center leadership and leverage KPIs to drive improvements in inventory management.Essential Job DutiesEstablish strategies to accomplish inventory and process improvement goals, to include slotting, location strategies, bulk vs. rack trade-offs, pick sequence, cycle count options, etc.Oversee the implementation, execution and compliance of Inventory Best Practices and SOPs to bring strategies about and ensure inventory control excellence at the site.Ensure facility is operated in accordance with company inventory control guidelines, and inventory practices are known and in-place at site.Understand world class service levels and drivers, operational inventory metrics, to move execution toward those performance levels. Challenge the status quo, drive innovation in order to enhance operational efficiencies.Leverage technology and other resources to reduce or eliminate costs associated with inventory control gaps.Organize and supervise day-to-day inventory control team responsibility and accountability for all aspects of inventory control to support site operations and enable site excellence.Lead efforts to identify problem areas and improvement opportunities. Organize projects to pursue opportunities. Leverage experience and judgment to set inventory control-related goals, plan projects to meet those goals.Establish operational tools to ensure transparent performance through Scorecards, KPI's, Metrics, Order Profile, LMS reporting and analysis and other relevant performance management. Review KPIs and utilize other measurement tools on a daily/weekly basis to ensure that operational, financial, employee and service controls are in place.Respond effectively to customer needs, interests, and concerns with regard to inventory, while maintaining the proper balance between the best possible customer service and the cost of delivering that service.Promote and maintain a safe work environment.Be familiar with and comply with applicable employment laws, and other municipal, state, and federal regulations.Work in a way that strengthens relationships and models collaborative leadership. Partner with site teams and leaders, drive inventory excellence, develop recommendations and implement them. Solicit employee involvement in and support for important decisions and initiatives.Lead and develop Inventory and Process team members to strengthen site knowledge and team member capabilities.Train, appraise and manage a robust facility team. Develop training plans to leverage talents and skills, and shore-up opportunity areas.Communicate expectations and support ongoing, individual development. Pursue and encourage others to pursue, opportunities to develop new knowledge and skills. Solicit feedback from others to improve own performance.Advocate for employees or employee concerns in inventory and other operational SOPs.Recognize employee contributions and successes in Inventory Control.Collaborate with peers at other Distribution Centers to assure cohesiveness and share best practices and lessons learned across Distribution Network.Visit other facilities to ensure alignment with company policies and standard operating procedures on inventory control are being observed and properly executed, including but not limited to slotting, location strategies, cycle counting procedures, record-keeping, follow-up on missing/damaged cases, adjustments, segregation of duties and productivity.Supervises a team of up to 20 employees, including hourly and salaried positions.Knowledge and Skill Requirements Strong analytical skills, ability to dissect data, identify trends, errors, and impact of inventory and operational activity; and communicate value-added analysis and proposed actions.Working knowledge of inventory control practices and standard warehouse operationsFamiliar with WMS, RF, Labor Management systems, Engineered Standards and ERPComfortable with fast-paced, deadline-oriented environmentVery strong customer service orientationHigh sense of urgency to meet objectives and deadlines.Knowledge of Regulatory Agency Food Safety Guidelines and ability to communicate to facility team to ensure compliance with all Food Safety GuidelinesExcellent written, oral communication skills as well as presentation skillsStrong organizational and documentation skillsAbility to type and enter data via personal computers.Minimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED required.3+ years in inventory control in a distribution/warehouse environment, and a minimum of 1 year in a supervisory/management role.Experience with WMS/LMS systems required (JDA/Red Prairie preferred); proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel required.Preferred QualificationsBachelor's degree in business, logistics, or inventory control supply chainPhysical Demands Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time (with frequent interruptions), walk, climb steps and/or ladders, stoop, reach, bend at the waist, grasp, and move or lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Requires several hours per day of sitting, getting up and down from chairs. Requires manual dexterity with normal hand and finger movements of typical office work. Talking, hearing, and seeing are mandatory elements of completing assigned tasks. Must be able to drive a vehicle as well as use office equipment such as a copier, fax, stapler, telephone, computer, and calculator.Work EnvironmentMay be exposed to extreme heat and/or cold depending upon the weather conditions when working on the docks or driving a vehicle.Travel Required May occasionally travel to other facilities to help with system conversions and/or perform trainings.Compensation and Benefits:The target base salary range for this full-time, salaried position is between$87,100-$125,200Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training.
