PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITIONActing under prescribed rules and approved practices, to assist instrument mechanics in locating and correcting trouble in generating station mechanical and electrical control systems and instruments to inspect, clean, adjust, calibrate, and repair assigned instruments and gauges and to perform related work as assigned. PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIESTo assist instrument mechanics of higher classification in locating and correcting trouble in control systems and instruments of combustion equipment and nuclear reactors, turbines, chlorinators, water treatment systems, and station auxiliary equipment, involving inspecting, cleaning, calibrating, replacing defective parts, and repairing electrical and mechanical instruments and controls.To inspect, clean, adjust, calibrate and repair such instruments as manometers, gauges, flow meters and thermometers.To test electronic tubes and replace defective amplifier units. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSHigh School DiplomaAbility to pass pre-employment testingAbility to work different shiftsAbility to receive unescorted Nuclear accessExcellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skillsAnd one of the following:Associates degree or equivalent in Electronics OR2 years of military Electronics maintenance experience ORA minimum of 2 years of specialized training in power plant instrument operation and maintenance in Navy Nuclear Electronic Technician roleOR 2 years as an instrumentation and controls technician in an industrial facility
