Summary

As a Data Scientist at Simplot, you'll turn data into information for use in making business decisions by analyzing data and applying machine learning, statistical analysis and artificial intelligence techniques to build smart applications. You'll apply developed subject matter knowledge to solve common and complex business issues within established guidelines and recommend appropriate alternatives. You'll work on problems / projects of diverse complexity and scope. Exercise independent judgment within generally defined policies and practices to identify and select a solution. You may act as a team or project leader providing direction to team activities and facilitate information validation and team decision-making process. 

Key Responsibilities
  • Participates as a member of a data science and/or business intelligence team. May lead a small team of support engineers or application.
  • Independently implements analytics applications or services of moderate complexity as prepared by more senior technologist in support of more complex solutions. 
  • Applies technical knowledge to interpret business questions and requirements.
  • Independently resolves some highly complex technical issues within a given technical area.
  • Partners with members of a given team or other IT teams as appropriate.
  • Identifies potential escalations and proactively alerts management, leads.
  • Proactively searches for solutions to relevant business problems in anticipation of future need.
Typical Education
  • Bachelors required. Master’s preferred
Relevant Experience
  • 5+ years related experience and/or training
  • Demonstrates an in-depth understanding of key analytical/machine learning/artificial intelligence techniques
  • Speaks with authority to most layers of depth related to data science methods
  • Experience in scripting and / or programming language, especially Python
  • Makes use of and contributes to the analytics community
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in scripting and / or programming language
  • Experience with implementation, problem analysis and solutioning of analytics applications
  • Exhibits a high level of initiative and integrity. Possess creative ability, consulting skills, leadership qualities, credibility and self-confidence
  • Demonstrated ability to work with geographically dispersed teams
  • Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements and solutions.
