We are seeking a skilled Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Mechanic to join our team at Fleet Logistics Support Squadron VR-56, located at NAS Oceana, Virginia Beach, VA. This role is critical to maintaining the readiness of C-40 Clipper aircraft by ensuring the safe operation, inspection, and repair of ground support equipment. Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Mechanic: Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems on GSEPerform scheduled and unscheduled inspections, servicing, and testing of GSE to maintain operational readinessUse diagnostic equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, circuit card testers, etc.) to analyze and resolve system malfunctionsService equipment with fuels, oils, coolants, hydraulic fluid, refrigerant, and compressed airMaintain external fuel and grounding systems, perform corrosion prevention, and support equipment mobility readinessOperate, inspect, and service GSE towing vehiclesDocument and update maintenance actions using automated systems to track repairs and trendsTrain and mentor junior mechanics in troubleshooting and repair proceduresAdhere to Navy technical manuals, NAMP procedures, and strict safety standards, including hazardous material handling and disposal Benefits Competitive payHealth, dental, and vision insurance401(k) with company matchingPaid time off and holiday payLife insurance and retirement planCareer development and training opportunitiesHigh school diploma or equivalent and 6+ years of relevant maintenance experienceHands-on experience with GSE or similar heavy mechanical/electrical equipmentProficiency with mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical (AC/DC) system repairExperience with tire/wheel assembly, servicing, and disposal proceduresStrong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills using advanced test equipmentValid state driver’s licenseAbility to obtain and maintain a Secret clearanceAbility to work flexible schedules, including weekends or on-call shifts when mission requires Preferred Qualifications Prior U.S. Navy or U.S. military aviation maintenance backgroundFamiliarity with the Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP)Associate degree or higher in a related technical fieldTraining/certifications in:Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI) – GSETire and WheelHydraulic Contamination ControlSupport Equipment Operator Training & Licensing Ability to Commute: Oak Harbor, WA (Required) Ability to Relocate: Oak Harbor, WA: Relocate before starting work (Required) Work Location: In person Expected hours: 8hrs per day, Monday to Friday
