Capital One is seeking a Senior Director of Software Engineering to lead, manage, mentor, and grow an extremely talented software engineering team to build exciting software solutions within the Enterprise. This leader must have the ability to attract and recruit the industry?s best talent, and simultaneously have the technical chops to ensure we invest in the right solutions on behalf of our engineering teams and customers. You will:

  • Lead, manage and grow multiple teams software engineers in building services and tools that automate governance and compliance requirements, and lead improving the developer experience

  • Work to modernize our existing tech stacks

  • Collaborate with internal teams to find areas of opportunities for automation and machine learning.

  • Partner with architects, product owners, and software engineers to drive the implementation of new applications

  • Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across the line of business and the enterprise

  • Lead efforts to build new and modernize existing applications into AWS environments

  • Conduct design and code review to ensure compliance with standards

  • Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity

  • Create proof of concepts and see through projects through production

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor?s Degree

  • At least 9 years of experience in software development

  • At least 7 years of experience in developing scalable web applications and architectural standards

  • At least 7 years of experience in people management

  • At least 3 years of experience with cloud technologies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master?s Degree in Computer Science or a Master?s Degree in Software Engineering

  • 3+ years experience with Amazon Web Services

  • 3+ years of experience with horizontal platforms or related services and technologies

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

New York City (Hybrid On-Site): $321,500 - $366,900 for Sr. Dir, Software Engineering

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate?s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
