Design Engineer

Essential Position Duties:
The engineer needed for this position will be responsible for quoting and creating design packages based on specific requests to customize industrial vehicles based on the needs of certain industries or requirements specific to the materials being handled. Engineers in the Toyota Custom Engineering (CE) group will be responsible for planning, designing, modeling, and documenting new components and systems for industrial vehicles, as well as developing order-specific engineering bills of materials. An engineering background and education will be important to quickly learn how the electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems of a forklift interact and function. The ability to support technical hands-on experience for troubleshooting fit and function of designs on production vehicles is an important skill to have. The engineer will be expected to support our internal customers as the owner of the design, both internal combustion and battery/electric vehicle designs will be applicable.

- Intellectually curious and demonstrated ability to learn independently.
- Accuracy with numbers and attention to detail.
Essential Position Duties:
- Requesting quotes from Suppliers.
- Reviewing Dealer requests and responding with accurate design solutions.
- Building models and parts lists for requested TSDRs (Toyota Special Design Requests).
- Supporting designs from design to production to final Kaizens.
- Supporting department Kaizen activities.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Specific Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience with CAD and PLM tools (preferably CATIA and Smarteam)
Education & Experience:
- Requires BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
- 6 months combined full-time,co-op, or internship experience recommended.
