POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintains direct management responsibility and accountability for clinical practice of nursing in all prep and hold areas serving the Cardiology and Radiology Services of University Health.  Services supported include Diagnostic Cardiology and Vascular,  Radiology, Neuroradiology, Endovascular, GI and Advanced Endoscopy, Cardiac Catheterization and Electrophysiology.  Maintains indirect leadership responsibility for all clinical procedure nurses assigned to non-nursing leaders within Cardiology and Radiology Services for the purposes of providing nursing collaborative practices, mentoring, coaching, and professional development.  Secondary reporting relationship with the ACNO to collaboratively maintain current standards of nursing practice as well as nursing policies and procedures.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and current registration with the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas is required (Magnet). Effective January 1, 2016, a Masters Degree is required or enrollment in a Master’s program. Effective August 1, 2015, National certification (e.g. CCRN, RNC, CEN, CNOR, OCN, ANCC, CAN, CPAN, CFRN, etc.) in related field is required unless currently enrolled in school. National Certification will be required one year after completion of the aforementioned education. Five years of related, progressively responsible health care experience is required.  Two years in a supervisory capacity is required.  Experience in a 300+ bed hospital preferred.

LICENSURE

Current license from the Board of Nurse Examiners of the State of Texas to practice as a registered nurse is required.
