Sr. Network Security Engineer

Inova Health is looking for a dedicated Sr. Networking Security Engineer to join the Team. This role will be full-time day shift from Monday - Friday, hybrid position.
The Network Security Engineer Senior is responsible for expert operation and support of systems hardware, software, and services related security infrastructure. Focuses on monitoring, administering, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining enterprise network security infrastructure. Works with the other teams designing, implementing, optimizing, and maintaining cloud-based solutions using both Inova's private cloud and/or varieties of public clouds. Manages urgent and complex issues by setting customer expectations, devising and implementing action plans, being available as required and professionally communicating to all parties involved. Demonstrates ability to resolve problems effectively & efficiently required to ensure minimal disruptions & unplanned downtimes of assigned systems. Using established standards, manages network security infrastructure including firewalls, load balancers, VPNs, cloud-based solutions and supporting infrastructure. Serves as group contact escalation from after hours on-call support.

Sr. Network Security Engineer Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for design and standards required for installation/configuration, operation and support of systems hardware and software related data communications infrastructure. Tasks will be focused on advanced design, implementation, maintaining high availability, performance, and security of data communications systems that are located throughout the enterprise.
- Completes network documentation for all planned infrastructure systems & system software implementations & upgrades, including overall work-plans, test plans, implementation schedules & backout/recovery plans & evidenced by a minimal number of problems or "backouts" associated with an implementation, modification or upgrade.
- Provides expertise and guidance to groups across the enterprise in the design and support of architecture and infrastructure solutions for business applications.
- Resolves problems while allowing for other team members to continue to work on other tasks evidenced by the smooth resolution to issues & all team members being cognizant of what was done to resolve the problem.
- Evaluates new technologies to solve key requirements and problems, perform proof of concepts, and provide architecture proposals.
- Ensures successful and cooperative completion of tasks and projects and resolves problems in a timely manner. Efficiently and effectively communicates and follows up in a positive and meaningful manner with stakeholders on (1) the status on problems and projects, (2) proper procedures for system evaluations, (3) current task and project priorities and (4) alternatives to requests for services that do not meet standards. Communicates project status and resolution to stakeholders and leadership.
Additional Requirements:
- Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, hybrid
- Education: Bachelors Degree in relevant field (or 4 years of experience in lieu of degree)
- Experience: 8 years experience in one or more of the following areas: full suite of Cisco networking products including Catalyst, ASR, ISR, and Nexus. Designing and operating networks using OSPF, BGP, QoS, Spanning Tree, and EIGRP, 3 years working with Cisco (or similar enterprise class), 5 years working with firewalls (preferably Palo Alto or Cisco).
