JOB DESCRIPTIONSummary
Responsible for loading, transporting and unloading ready mix concrete from batch plant to customer job sites following established safety, service and quality policies and procedures.
Functional Responsibilities
Ø Exhibit a strong work ethic with the ability to take direction and work in a team setting and independently.
Ø Adhere to Permian Basin Materials Code of Conduct and company policies.
Ø Develop an extensive working relationship with customers to address customer needs, provide excellent customer service, and promote PBM brand awareness. Appearance should be neat and professional at all times.
Ø Check load to ensure concrete product is consistent to customer specifications including slump and add mixtures.
Ø Complete work tickets for jobs legibly, timely and with full detailed description of activity and gains customer signature when needed.
Ø Exhibit a strong work ethic with the ability to take direction and work in a team setting and independently.
Ø Adhere to Permian Basin Materials Code of Conduct and company policies.
Ø Follow written and oral instructions from dispatch or plant manager to ensure the quality of the concrete loaded into mixer drum is within customer specifications and to verify directions to customer locations.
Ø Able to distinguish between a proper mix and one that is too rocky, too sandy, or too wet.
Ø Maintain all required logbooks, DVIR and all other DOT requirements on a daily basis.
Ø Track hours of service (HOS) to ensure compliance with all applicable laws.
Ø Know and adhere to DOT rules and regulations and state and federal requirements.
Ø Drive and operate mixer truck to deliver and unload concrete safely at customer job site.
Ø Determine the most direct route to customer job site giving consideration to safety, traffic and state DOT regulations.
Ø Inspect customer job site to ensure truck can be operated safely and delivery can be made safely and efficiently.
Ø Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle safety inspections according to company guidelines. Maintain truck maintenance, fluid levels and fuel as needed or required.
Ø Report any vehicle mechanical problems on a timely basis to ensure prompt attention from fleet maintenance.
Ø Attach extension chutes as needed to ensure efficient unloading.
Ø Remove excess concrete from truck exterior surfaces (including chutes) with water at a site specified by the customer and according to applicable local, state and federal regulations.
Ø Ensure mixer drum is properly maintained and kept free of concrete build-up on the interior.
Ø Keep the interior and exterior of the truck clean and free of clutter to include removing road film and excess concrete from exterior surfaces.
Ø Comply with all Safety, Health, Environmental and other Company policies and procedures.
Ø Wear protective clothing and equipment as necessary to include hearing protection, dust masks, safety glasses, boots, harnesses and other clothing as required.
Ø Perform other functions and duties as required or directed.
EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/CERTIFICATIONS
Ø HS Diploma or equivalent preferred.
Ø Minimum age of 21 years old required.
Ø Current, valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean MVR.
Ø Able to operate both manual and automatic transmission trucks.
Ø Knowledge and experience with Electronic Logging Device (ELD) and paper logs.
Ø General knowledge of the local area is preferred.
Ø Demonstrated proficiency with simple math calculations as well as measurements.
Ø Demonstrated ability to follow instructions (oral and written) and to work independently.
Ø Must be able to speak, understand, read, and write English per FMCSA.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Ø Candidate must be drug free.
Ø Position requires moderately strenuous physical work.
Ø Must be able to:
o Lift and carry up to 100 pounds from floor to waist or shoulder level occasionally
o Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds frequently
o Climb in and out of equipment 50+ times per day
o Climb up and down ladders occasionally
o Position self to stand, bend, hold and reach for extended periods of time
o Use hands, fingers, and feet to operate assigned equipment
o Travel safely while walking and while operating heavy machinery and/or trucks over uneven terrain, roads, and pavement
o See, hear, and respond to verbal, visual, and written instructions
o Wear proper protective equipment including hard hat, glasses, high visibility clothing, steel-toed boots, and gloves
o Observe all company Safety policies on company premises and while operating equipment
o Continually work in extreme hot and cold weather conditions
o Work safely in wet, muddy, and slippery conditions occasionally
Ø Environment will vary from outdoors with varying noise levels and vibrations associated with construction equipment, and exposure to building materials, dust, and dirt at operating sites to a normal office environment.
