You will
- Receive and review cargo claims from branch offices
- Investigate the circumstances surrounding each claim, including reviewing documentation, interviewing involved parties, and assessing damages
- Document findings and maintain accurate records of claims status and resolution progress
- Serve as the primary point of contact for our customers and carriers regarding cargo claims
- Communicate claim status updates and resolutions to relevant stakeholders promptly and professionally
- Collaborate with all parties including carriers, drivers, shippers, receivers, and insurance companies to gather necessary information and documentation for claim resolution
- Negotiate claim settlements with carriers and insurers, striving to achieve the best possible outcome for our customers and branch offices
- Maintain a balance between advocating for our customers and branch office interests while attempting to preserve positive relationships with carriers
- Analyze claim trends and identify root causes of cargo damage or loss
- Develop and implement preventive measures to minimize future claims
- Stay up-to-date on relevant industry regulations and compliance requirements related to cargo claims Ensure all claim-related processes and documentation adhere to legal and regulatory standards
- Because of the nature of the job, this position is often required to be available on-call outside of normal work hours, throughout the night and/or weekends. In order to be of assistance to after hour callers, this role must possess specific knowledge acquired through experience.
- Experience in cargo claims adjusting
- 3-5 years of first party physical damage claims in commercial trucking
- Strong knowledge of insurance principles, policies, and regulations
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, written and verbal
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic team player who excels in a fast-paced environment
- Requires excellent analytical, organizational and decision-making skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong Excel skills
