Compliance Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Compliance Specialist to join our team. This role will focus on supporting inventory control and ensuring that our operations stay in compliance with cannabis industry regulations. You will be trained in the processes needed for success and play a key role in maintaining accurate records and monitoring compliance on a daily basis.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Inventory Control & Management
- Assist in tracking and documenting cannabis products, including plants, bulk flower, finished goods, and extracts.
- Work closely with production and operations teams to ensure that physical inventory matches the data in our inventory system (e.g., Biotrack or similar software).
- Participate in regular inventory counts, including weekly and monthly audits, and help investigate any discrepancies.
- Help track materials as they move through different areas of the facility, ensuring weights and quantities are updated correctly in the inventory system.
- Ensure that all products are stored, labeled, and packaged according to cannabis industry standards.
- Regulatory Compliance Monitoring
- Learn and follow local, state, and federal cannabis regulations, helping to ensure that the company remains in compliance.
- Assist in maintaining accurate records and documentation for regulatory purposes, including those related to cultivation, extraction, and packaging.
- Support the preparation for regulatory inspections and audits to make sure the company is always audit-ready.
- Help monitor and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Daily Compliance Duties
- Assist in conducting daily checks of operations to ensure they align with both internal policies and external regulations.
- Help maintain and update compliance documentation, such as inventory logs, manufacturing forms, and packaging or labeling forms.
- Work with different teams to address any compliance concerns that arise and ensure smooth operations across departments.
- Provide support to staff, helping them navigate compliance and inventory management procedures.
- Data Analysis & Reporting
- Assist in analyzing inventory and compliance data to spot trends, discrepancies, and areas for improvement.
- Help generate reports related to inventory levels, product movements, and compliance metrics for senior management.
- Problem Solving & Issue Resolution
- Help investigate inventory discrepancies and work with other teams to resolve any issues.
- Report any compliance issues or incidents promptly to ensure the facility's compliance standing with regulatory authorities remains intact.
- High school diploma or equivalent (required). Some college coursework in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related fields is a plus.
- Any coursework or certifications in cannabis compliance is a plus but not required.
- No previous compliance experience required, though any background in inventory, retail, or regulated industries is beneficial.
- A strong willingness to learn about cannabis industry regulations and compliance practices.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Critical Thinking skills
- Good communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Ability to work well with others and contribute to a team.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) is helpful.
- Ability to learn new software tools quickly (e.g., Biotrack or similar systems).
- Interest in the cannabis industry and a desire to learn about compliance and inventory management.

- Work may involve prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer. Rarely is physical exertion such as bending, lifting (up to 15 pounds), kneeling, squatting, pivoting, and carrying items/ product required. The warehouse environment may be subject to hot and cold temperatures, and ventilation may not be available in all areas. The warehouse environment may be subject to elevated noise volumes due to equipment, machinery, and the movement of goods. The warehouse may be subject to dirt, dust, cleaning solutions, chemicals, and debris from the handling of goods. The warehouse may have safety hazards such as slippery floors, moving equipment, and the presence of hazardous materials. You will need to follow safety protocols and wear appropriate protective equipment.
