Role: Data Governance Analysts

Location: Charlotte, NC or Dallas, TX or Minneapolis, MN or Phoenix, AZ (3x a week onsite)- *only send local candidates*

*This is a data governance analyst role NOT a developer role so please don't send any developers*

On W2 consultants on Apex Systems Payroll

12 Months of contract - Project Duration

  1. A/BTop 3 requirements:
    Advanced Excel skills (beyond simple v-lookup).
  • Various database experience
  • 5+ yrs data governance - data dictionaries and controls
  • Worked in liaison role between policy and LOB who owns the apps.
  • Created data dictionaries - from scratch preferably and theirs have tech metadata to use business metadata
  • Worked on controls around that data -- going to document controls/checks in the data dictionary.
  • Soft skills are extremely important. Looking for someone who can have a conversation, not afraid to be on the phone (confidence), ask questions in different ways and dig for the answer
  • Looking for someone who can think outside of the box and is a self-starter.
  • Need to have an understanding of SQL, not technically proficient.
  • Plusses: Banking Experience, Jira, Degree in computer science, experience in testing or as a BA

  1. Day to Day Responsibilities/project specifics:


This team:

This is the Data Governance and Policy team at Commercial Bank, focused on Metadata. They determine where the data is coming from and need to understand the flow of data. Data dictionaries and data checks.

Worked on controls around that data - they are going to document the controls/checks in the data dictionary.

***numeric values will not do testing

Ideally commercial banking, banking is always a plus

Tech knowledge but not too tech and will tell the app team about the issues in their application. They need to understand what an application is and how it sits on a database. And

Understand a column, table schema - they have to lead the lob in questions. We need to know how the data comes in , what happens to data when it comes in. what does the user do (edit, send along) and then want are the controls around that data and how users are able to access that data etc. ***do not take the first answer the app owner gives them. Can't be afraid to talk to snr person that owns the application and dig, politely question those app owners.
