Summary:

  • CNAs provide essential help to registered nurses and doctors, who supervise their work as they Provide basic care and assistance to injured, sick or infirm patients.
  • In long-term care facilities, CNAs are often the main caregivers and contact points for residents.
  • CNA will report to the Nurse Manager/Supervisor of the Unit.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provides personal care assistance to patients as directed: (bathing, grooming, feeding, and toileting).
  • Prepares resident for meals; serves and collects trays, assists in setting up and feeding residents/patients; serves fresh water and nourishments when indicated.
  • Helps residents with transferring and lifting, raising residents in beds and turning residents.
  • Obtains temperature on residents whose medical conditions warrant such monitoring.
  • Obtains urine samples, weights, intake/output.
  • Regularly checks on residents/patients, ensuring comfort, dignity and privacy.
  • Performs related Nurse Assistant duties as assigned for efficient unit operation.
  • Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, and safety, environmental and infection control standards.
  • Oral care, nail care, and basic hygiene.
  • Bathing and dressing of patient. Bathing may take place in the form of a bed bath, shower, or tub.
  • Relaying information to the next CNA on shift, or to the nurse's in charge.
  • Post mortem care.
Education & Experience Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited CNA program.
  • Must be licensed, certified or registered with the state.
  • Active AHA BLS Certification.
  • Evidence of 1 year of experience in the role of CNA.
