Key Responsibilities:
1. Research and Analysis
Conduct research and analysis to support decision making among the focus area work groups (FAWGs) on relevant topics. This includes data gathering and analytics on topics related, but not limited to, natural gas distribution system operations and dynamics, electric system operations and dynamics, peaking power plants and combined heat and power plants, utility capital cost recovery mechanisms within and outside of Massachusetts, clean energy technology innovations, public health, workforce, tax policy, etc,. Summarize data and analytics into easily understandable background documents and presentations.
2. Stakeholder Outreach Engagement
Directly manage support staff carrying out day-to-day efforts related to operations and programming. Build and maintain community relationships to enrich and diversify local partnership.
3. Meeting Planning and Support
Directly manage and support stakeholder working group convenings, including developing meeting agendas and supporting materials, facilitating small group meetings, and summarizing meeting discussions, outcomes, and next steps. Provide support for regional public meetings around the Commonwealth, including identifying and working with other departments within EEA, including the Undersecretary for Environmental Justice and Equity, other agencies, including the Department of Energy Resources and Department of Public utilities, the Attorney General's Office, and local partner organizations to secure event space, develop public outreach and notice strategies, and support successful execution of meetings. and broader community engagement.
Promote the OET's commitment to advancing an affordable, equitable and sustainable energy transition:
- Build effective partnerships throughout the Commonwealth by sharing strategies and recommendations, soliciting feedback and information, and providing assistance when needed.
- Ensure optimum outreach and engagement with Advisory Board and FAWG members.
- Maintain communication within and among OET, other departments in EEA and other government agencies.
Other Duties:
Performs other related duties as assigned including supporting the Massachusetts Office of Energy Transformation's mission as applicable
Working Conditions:
Carries a cell phone. Travel for work-related meetings, conferences and professional development as needed. Position requires travel between campuses. The nature of duties involve interaction with students, faculty, staff and the community for Sustainability and Asset Management program related matters. Supervises students and support staff as assigned.
Physical Effort:
Environmental Working Conditions: Will work in all areas of the university including Academic, Research, Residential and Office environments.
Working in an office setting, using a computer, but may be required to stand for an extended period. Occasional (10-33%) reaching, pushing, grasping, and pulling. Lifting to 60 pounds.
Frequent (34-66%) standing and walking.
Constant (67-100%) viewing of computer screen and reports, sitting, repetitive motion, talking and hearing.
Must have a vehicle drivers license and willingness to drive.
Qualifications Required:
- Credits toward a Bachelor's or graduate degree in sustainability, environmental, engineering, business, finance, sciences, policy or related field.
- Behavioral competencies include ability to work independently or as part of a team, problem-solving ability, customer service and diplomacy skills, and excellent communication and organization skills.
- Commitment to learning and growth.
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office, data management, querying, and spreadsheet development as pertains to work-related tasks and deadlines, including, for example, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, PowerBi and/or other data and metrics management/tracking programs.
Additional Considerations:
- Experience developing, implementing, and managing projects and/or programs related to sustainability, energy system operations and management, building operation and management, power plant operations and management, finance, or GIS mapping.
- Demonstrated experience with organization, project management, stakeholder engagement, event and meeting planning.
Impact of Actions:
- Responsible for data integrity required for policy, research, compliance and decision-making.
- Individual exercises discretion and independent judgement while providing support, solutions, and guidance on all matters designated as their responsibility, as mutually agreed upon with Executive and or Deputy Director of OET.
Internal/External Communications:
- Position requires excellent communications skills, both written and oral, to engage in communication with a diverse set of stakeholders within and outside government representing the breadth of the energy ecosystem in Massachusett.
Special Skills:
- The ability to work effectively with diverse groups.

- 20 hours per week
- $24.00 per hour
- Position is primarily in person
