Inertial Tracking Engineer

Salary: $65.87/hr.

Location: Orlando, FL (fully on-site)

Summary: Our defense client is looking for qualified candidates whose passion is for purposeful innovation to keep people safe and solve the world's most complex challenges. We are seeking an experienced engineer to develop inertial tracking algorithms for one of our fire control product lines

Qualifications:

  • Degree(s) in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, computer science, applied mathematics, or similar
  • 5-8 Years of experience with developing and analyzing algorithms related to inertial tracking and navigation.
  • 5-8 Years of experience with in one or more of the following programming languages: C++, Matlab, Python.
Desired Skills:
  • Experience with linear algebra software packages
    Strong programming skills that can translate to C++ development in a Linux environment
    Experience deploying algorithms that satisfy real-time performance requirements
    Experience deploying complex algorithms in embedded systems
    Experience developing algorithms using artificial intelligence / machine learning (AI/ML) techniques
    Knowledge of electro-optical/infrared detection (EOIR) technology, optics, and principles of radiometry
    Demonstrated expertise in developing and analyzing algorithms related to navigation and inertial tracking
    Professional experience and demonstrated proficiency in math as it relates to Kalman filtering, optimal state estimation, linear algebra, probability and statistics, and multivariate calculus
    Familiarity with clutter rejection techniques
    Knowledge and experience with modeling and simulation of EOIR systems.
Responsibilities:
  • The inertial tracking algorithm development areas include extended and unscented Kalman filtering, non-linear state estimation, Gaussian mixture models, information filtering, particle filtering, multi-hypothesis tracking, Bayesian inference, multi-sensor fusion, passive sensing and stereo tracking, angle-only tracking, feature-aided tracking, image tracking, integrated multi-model tracking, low-SNR target tracking, inertial attitude and line-of-sight estimation, contextual data fusion, scene-based event detection, supervised and unsupervised machine learning, object classification, kinematic and radiometric feature estimation, hypothesis testing, and Monte Carlo methods.
  • In addition to algorithm development, this engineer may be responsible for the development of complex models and simulations, evaluation of system performance in complex scenarios and environments, and the verification of system and subsystem level requirements.
  • They should be comfortable developing and presenting technical material to internal leadership and external customers.
  • They must be a highly motivated, self-starter who is comfortable multi-tasking across a number of programmatic and technical responsibilities.
  • The candidate should be capable of working in a collegial team environment among subject matter experts coming from a variety of academic backgrounds.
  • They should also desire to work towards becoming a technical subject matter expert in algorithm development.
