Description

The Cybersecurity Engineer will play a vital role in ensuring the security and integrity of our network systems. Join an exciting program under the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) focusing on proactive defense against cyber threats. As part of our Security Operations Center (SOC), you will help protect critical information systems and support them in various environments including LAN/WAN, cloud, and wireless.

Primary Responsibilities:

In this role, you will:

  • Support the entire system engineering life-cycle including requirements analysis, design, implementation, and maintenance of SOC tools.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot security solutions and monitoring tools such as IDS/IPS, DLP, and endpoint security.
  • Create and maintain LAN/WAN security standards and design documentation.
  • Script using Python, Bash, Visual Basic, or PowerShell.
  • Communicate effectively within the team and with stakeholders.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • 3-5 years in a Systems Engineering/Admin role or related cyber security experience.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services including EC2, S3, and VPC.
  • Proficiency with Linux distributions and experience in patch management.
  • Knowledge of Windows setup and log management.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across various applications and operating systems.
  • Understanding of networking concepts including VPNs, DNS, DHCP, and firewalls.
  • Familiarity with automation tools like Ansible and SCCM.
  • Experience in creating documentation and SOPs.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field with at least 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in managing IT Security in complex environments and cyber risk management.
  • Understanding of Zero Trust capabilities and infrastructure architecture.

Clearance: Candidates must pass a 5-year Background Investigation mandated by DHS.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Willingness to learn and support new systems.
  • Relevant certifications such as Security+, Linux+, or Network+ are a plus.
  • Familiarity with Cisco hardware and security applications.
