HOURS FOR POSITION: Monday- Friday -8:00am-4:30pm

Hiring Range - $27.41/hr - $34.26/hr

The Training & Development Specialist I will work to boost workplace performance by identifying training gaps, working with the Training team to brainstorm targeted solutions to address those gaps, and supporting implementation of solutions into current curriculum and courses. This position will also be responsible for evaluating training effectiveness through classroom surveys; recommending adjustments/enhancements to course materials, and incorporating updates into training programs.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES AND FUNCTIONS:

  1. Evaluates modes of training delivery, such as in-person or virtual, to optimize training effectiveness.
  2. Presents information with a variety of instructional techniques or formats, such as role playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos, or lectures.
  3. Organizes and facilitates employee training, in person or virtual, for new and existing employees on job related functions, professional development, and new products/services/technologies, all specifically within Credit Union policy standards.
  4. Monitors employee progress throughout training programs/events; evaluating and documenting progress and performance and reporting progress, performance, and observations to the employee's Manager/Supervisor/VP, OJT Coach, and Training Team.
  5. Identifies performance gaps for employees in training courses, discuss potential solutions with Senior Training & Development Specialist and/or AVP, Training & Organizational Development, and presents action plan and areas for continued development with employee's Manager/Supervisor/VP.
  6. Actively follows up with new and existing employees after attending classes to help ensure the successful transfer of knowledge and skills from training to the job; offering guidance and support and a resource for future training and development questions.
  7. Updates and maintains the procedures and policy references in all training programs, workbooks, and slide decks as directed. As organizational and trainee needs change, pro-actively identifies these needs, create/utilize techniques to meet needs, and incorporates into the relevant training programs with concurrence of the Senior Training & Development Specialists and/or AVP, Training & Organizational Development.
  8. Uses approved tools and methods for measuring skills and knowledge acquisition, retention, and application, in and out of the classroom.
  9. Maintains records of training and development activities, attendance, results of tests and assessments, and retraining requirements
  10. Maintains knowledge of latest trends in training and development
  11. Maintains knowledge of credit union operations; to include regular observations/visits with different lines of business to keep up on current processes, procedures, and policies.
  12. Performs other duties, as required


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • AA degree in a related field and 2+ years of experience working in similar role as front line team member, OR four years of training related experience.
  • Proficiency in productivity and collaboration tools (Microsoft Office Suite, Google, Zoom)
  • Excellent communication, instructional, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrates sound knowledge, understanding, and application of training and organizational development concepts, theories, adult learning principles, team building, and analysis
  • Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Ability to read, interpret, analyze, and apply knowledge gained from business periodicals, professional journals or websites, and government regulations to training/education initiatives.
  • Ability to enter data and sort, extract, and understand the application of information derived from databases or core systems.
  • Ability to identify and utilize computer-based training and eLearning programs/resources
  • Ability to effectively operate training equipment for presentation
  • Ability to arrive at work on time as scheduled
  • Has knowledge of and adheres to credit union policies and procedures and all regulations related to the Bank Secrecy Act, the USA PATRIOT Act, and OFAC.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Ability to work the hours needed which may extend beyond the defined work schedule when operating conditions dictate
  • Ability to lift or repeatedly move up to 20lbs, with or without assistance, to include training equipment, supplies, and furniture to complete room setup for training sessions; in compliance with ADA requirements
  • Must be able to travel and work variable hours and schedules (i.e., peak-time hours, occasional weekends, etc.) to conduct training, on-site assessments and complete functional assignments at multiple branch locations, both sponsor-based and community on a planned and ad hoc basis.
