ORGANIZATION SUMMARY
World Relief is a global Christian humanitarian organization whose mission is to boldly engage the world's greatest crises in partnership with the church. The organization was founded in the aftermath of World War II to respond to the urgent humanitarian needs of war-torn Europe. Since then, for 80 years, across 100 countries, World Relief has partnered with local churches and communities to build a world where families thrive and communities flourish.
Today, organizational programming focuses on humanitarian and disaster response, community strengthening and resilience, and refugee & immigrant services and advocacy.
This position is reliant upon funding and may be subject to modification or termination based on resource availability.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Fundraising Development Specialist will lead the development and execution of fundraising and donor engagement strategies that support World Relief Upstate SC's mission. This role focuses on cultivating donor relationships, deepening community partnerships, and securing the financial resources needed to sustain and grow our services. The ideal candidate is an innovative, self-motivated professional with a strong passion for service and a background in strategic development and fundraising.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Fundraising Strategy Development:
- In collaboration with the Director of Community Engagement and the Office Director, develop, implement, and refine a comprehensive fundraising strategy to meet annual revenue goals, including individual giving, major gifts, events, grants, annual campaigns and corporate partnerships as well as Gift-In-Kind donation strategies.
- This role will manage a portfolio of donors, while also developing strategy and assisting other team members with implementation.
- Donor Engagement & Cultivation:
- Build, maintain, and deepen relationships with current and potential donors.
- Create personalized donor journeys to enhance donor engagement, loyalty, and retention, including regular communications, updates, and acknowledgments.
- Grant Writing and Management:
- Research, identify, and apply for grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government entities. Manage grant reporting and maintain compliance with grant requirements.
- Community & Church Partnerships:
- Work with CE team members to help strengthen relationships with local churches, businesses, and community organizations.
- Engage partners through presentations, events, and collaborative initiatives that align with World Relief's mission.
- Event Planning & Execution:
- Plan and execute fundraising events, including donor appreciation gatherings, annual galas, and community outreach events.
- Manage event logistics, sponsorships, and volunteer coordination to ensure successful outcomes.
- Partner with the CE team to integrate giving into other outreach events
- Strategic Development & Innovation:
- Collaborate with leadership to identify new funding opportunities and develop innovative revenue streams.
- Contribute to long-term strategic planning for financial growth and sustainable impact. Reporting & Data Management:
- Track and analyze fundraising data, preparing regular reports on donor engagement, revenue, and progress toward fundraising goals.
- Maintain donor records in CRM (Salesforce, etc.) to ensure accurate reporting and relationship management.
- Marketing & Communications Support:
- Work closely with the marketing team to develop materials that communicate the impact of World Relief Upstate SC's work.
- Contribute to newsletters, social media, and other communications to raise visibility and engage potential supporters.
- Align with Marketing to implement brand amplification strategies, including digital lead generation and in-person outreach.
- Leverage email drip campaigns to nurture leads and drive donations.
- Track and analyze lead generation efforts to improve donor acquisition and engagement.

- Able to affirm and/or acknowledge World Reliefs Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity and National Evangelicals For the Health of The Nation document
- Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, Communications, Business, or related field; master's preferred.
- Proven track record in securing funding, cultivating major gifts, and building strong donor relationships.
- Experience in grant writing and knowledge of the grant application process.
- Strong public speaking, networking, and relationship-building skills.
- Proficiency with donor management software (e.g., Salesforce, Raiser's Edge) and MS Office Suite.
- Excellent written skills, organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Ability to submit and pass a driving records check and ability to drive for work purposes.
- 1-3 years of experience in fundraising or partnership management
