STUDENT SERVICES COORDINATOR

DEPARTMENT: Career and Technical Education (CTE)
QUALIFICATIONS:
? Valid MS Teaching License with a 309 - Secondary Special Populations endorsement or meets the
eligible requirements to obtain the 309 endorsement (see chart below).
? Must be familiar with working with individuals with disabilities, economically disadvantaged
individuals, single parents, and limited English proficiency individuals.

Note: MDE Requirements - 309 Secondary Special Populations Personnel

Persons meeting these requirements are eligible to serve as teacher or coordinator of students in
special populations (aka: Student Services Coordinator) and provide them with educational services.

This endorsement requires the following:
- Bachelor's degree with a teacher license and at least three (3) years teaching in one of the

REPORTS TO: Director of CTE

SUPERVISES: Students

JOB GOAL: Focuses on the recruitment, enrollment, instruction, retention, placement, and follow up
of special population students preparing for high-skill, high-wage, high-demand occupations and/or
nontraditional employment in new and emerging careers. This position requires a strong focus on
tracking students' progress during their post-graduation years.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Identify and assess special population students. Provide additional educational instruction and
developmental services to special populations students, as identified through assessment.
2. Provide for appropriate career technical assessment of interest, abilities, aptitudes, and
specific needs of special populations students.
3. Work with CTE Counselor to ensure that special populations students are provided equal access
to recruitment, enrollment, retention, completion, placement activities, and preparatory and
support service affiliated with CTE programs.
4. Support special populations students with services such as (a) curriculum, classroom, and
equipment modifications; (b) supportive personnel; (c) instructional aids and devices; (d) academic
assistance; and (e) equal access to nontraditional education and training programs, pre-employment
services, and so forth.
5. Establishes a Local Advisory Committee comprised of parents, community members, and business
leaders to support special populations students in their programs of study and post-graduation
career interests.
6. Provide transitional information and services for all special populations students.
7. Assist special populations students in the achievement and mastery of necessary skills and
explanations required for them to be successful in their career technical programs.
8. Provide services to prepare special populations students for nontraditional education, training,
and employment in high-skill, high-wage, and high-demand occupations.
9. Maintain records and documentation detailing services and activities provided to special
populations students.
10. Provides students with materials and information related to career and post-high school
educational opportunities; assists with college admission applications, scholarships, financial aid
applications, and employment applications including writing letters of recommendation.
11. Assist the CTE Director with the Local Application Tool (LAT) to aid in assigning the
appropriate amount of funding to support the instructional needs of special populations students.
12. Assist the CTE Director with the placement and monitoring of special populations students in
the district's adult education programs during their post-graduation years.
13. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 200 Days
Salary for this position shall be commensurate with the years of experience as determined under the
policies and procedures of the Moss Point School District and in accordance with the pay scale.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the
of Trustees' policy on evaluation of District personnel.
