Responsibilities: Designs and plans complex network systems for LANs, WANs, and WLANs Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture Evaluates future needs of a statewide education network and Internet services Plans for upgrades or configuration changes as required Tracks network utilization patterns, including both bandwidth utilization as well as applications in use Evaluates new technologies for use in the network Maintains current understanding of evolving protocols, technologies, and applications Recommends updates or changes to the network to meet anticipated future demands Provides ongoing instruction in network technologies and protocols to other team members and clients Provides mentoring and leadership to less experienced engineers Must be available for after-hours maintenance and will join the engineering on-call rotation Assists in the implementation of enterprise networks and network components. Monitors network performance and executes maintenance and operations plans. Provides ongoing maintenance and support of hardware and software network components and applications. Provides user and administrator training and conduct network component testing. Required Skills: 3-5 years of demonstrated performance in related network technology.
