We are seeking a FT Bench Seafood Manager forour Morris Plains, NJ Bring your love for seafood and your experience to our gourmet store and we will offer you the freshest seafood department to manage. Our Bench Seafood Manager at Uncle Giuseppe's Marketplace will be responsible for overseeing the operations and management of our seafood departments, traveling to our New Jersey locations as needed. This is a Full-Time position, working with all of our store's Seafood Managers and staff. The primary focus of this position is to work in tandem with each Seafood Department, assisting with their store seafood needs, working with the staff to ensure that our customers are always taken care of and provided with the best customer experience with high-quality seafood products. The Seafood Manager at Uncle Giuseppe's Marketplace is responsible for overseeing the operations and management of a seafood department. Their primary focus is on ensuring the availability of high-quality seafood products, maintaining inventory levels and providing exceptional customer service. Seafood Procurement: Source and select seafood products from reliable suppliers, ensuring freshness and quality.Establish and maintain relationships with seafood vendors and negotiate pricing and contracts.Monitor market trends and adjust procurement strategies accordingly to optimize product selection and availability. Inventory Management: Manage and maintain inventory levels, including receiving, storage, rotation, and disposal of seafood products.Conduct regular stock checks, track inventory turnover, and minimize product waste. Implement effective systems for proper labeling, pricing, and dating of seafood products. Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations, including HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) guidelines.Inspect incoming seafood shipments for freshness, quality, and adherence to specifications.Monitor and enforce proper handling, storage, and display of seafood products to maintain optimal freshness. Staff Supervision and Training: Recruit, train, and supervise seafood department staff members, including scheduling and performance management.Provide ongoing training on seafood product knowledge, handling techniques, and customer service skills.Foster a positive work environment, promote teamwork, and address any employee concerns or performance issues. Customer Service: Assist customers with their seafood purchases, providing recommendations, cooking instructions, and information on sustainability and sourcing.Resolve customer complaints and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction. Implement strategies to increase seafood sales, such as promotions, tastings, and educational events. Food Safety and Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on relevant industry regulations, food safety guidelines, and sustainability practices.Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations governing seafood handling, labeling, and traceability.Implement and enforce food safety procedures and conduct regular inspections to maintain a safe working environment. Requirements HS Diploma or equivalentMust have 5 years of experience working in a seafood department of a grocery store or seafood store, with 3 of those years in a management positionExperience in the Culinary Arts/Professional training preferred with working knowledge of preparing seafood dishes, cooking seafood, fileting, storage, inventory, staffing, training and all other culinary management functions necessary in a seafood kitchenStrong knowledge of seafood preparations and displays within a seafood departmentMust have strong leadership skills and ability to lead a teamAbility to deliver friendly, courteous, prompt customer serviceAbility to read, write and do simple math problemsMust speak, read and communicate in the English languageAbility to interpret, understand and follow instructions and solve problems We offer a comprehensive benefits package to all FT and PT employees including medical, dental, vision, 401(K), 50% off lunch, 25% off in store shopping and more We offer gas/toll reimbursement in addition up to 15% Bonus Incentive.
