Responsibilities Sets up and takes down arrangements for formal and informal events that include; meetings, dances, rehearsals, seminars etc. Under general direction coordinates arrangements of furniture, platforms, coat racks, podiums, lecterns, trash receptacles, music stands and/or dividers according to the floor plans for the event. Performs cleaning services to areas before and after the events. Leads and instructs custodial staff for large events. Receives, distributes, monitors condition of rental equipment needed for event and reports problems. Coordinates schedules with customer and designated supervisor. Submits time and material charges to SMD Housekeeping Supervisor/Manager/Director for approval and processing. May lead and instruct custodial staff to set up and/or clean for large events. Utilizes a variety of commercial-type and light-weight maintenance machines and equipment such as automatic scrubbing machines, strippers, waxers, buffers, polishers, wall washing equipment, rug shampoo machine, vacuum equipment; wet and dry mops, dusters, sponges, pails; small and large trash pick-up trucks and small flat-bed trucks; ladders and small tools such as hammer, screwdriver, pliers, etc. General office equipment, telephone, computer, pager, two-way radio, fax machine etc. May perform all or a combination of the following: reports to customers as they arrive, introducing himself/herself to be readily available for customer needs; serves as the direct interface with customer to resolve any last minute changes and/or problems with the scheduled event; during event breaks where necessary, freshen ice water glasses, removes trash, straighten tables and chairs for customer’s return. Distributes table tents and advertisements as required by customer. Interprets event plans/ room diagrams in order to lead and instruct other custodial staff with the set-up of all types of furniture for varying size events, in order to utilize support capabilities to include power, sound and media access. Maintains cleanliness of party rooms and furniture as well as sets up and breaks down room arrangements per requirements of the event. Performs regular building service type work, which may include washing walls, glass cleaning, brass polishing and maintaining first impression areas as well as restrooms. Maintains sidewalks and outside entrances, which may include snow removal and salting. Spot cleans carpets and furniture upholstery as needed, this includes seasonal walk-off mats. Uncrates new and rental furniture deliveries, monitors condition and reports any damage to Supervisor. Loads and unloads trucks. Maintains an accurate inventory of all items in storage area. Performs minor maintenance on furniture where possible, such as tightening legs, reattaching fabrics. Maintains cleanliness and neatness of storage area. Assists in moving of heavy equipment. For large events, may assist Supervisor with calculating the amount of additional staff needed and material costs. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements High School diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Two (2) years of related customer service experience. Ability to speak and understand English in a manner that is sufficient for effective communication. How To Apply All applicants must apply online.
