Responsibilities

• Manages the clinical program and clinical activities of the department. Develops and evaluates the performance of the clinical and decentralized pharmacists. Works to implement new clinical activities/processes to ensure the development of all pharmacy staff.
• Directs the ASHP Pharmacy Practice Residency program activities including resident selection, resident rotations, development of special projects and resident evaluation. Works with all preceptors to assure a meaningful and successful learning experience. Maintains program accreditation by ASHP.
• Develops and maintains an active, on-going structured staff development program for the professional staff including quarterly competencies. Seeks staff input and evaluation. Assists the Supervisor, Rx Technicians in development of technician competencies.
• Serves as the departmental resource for drug information services coordination. Develops and maintains a departmental drug information database.
• Provides oversight and supervision of the Student Student Program and the Student Coordinator. Monitors the effectiveness of the Student Coordinator via annual performance evaluations.
• Maintains proficiency and skill level by reviewing periodicals, abstracts and other professionally relevant materials in a timely fashion.
• Serves as the Secretary for the Medication Use Committee. Sets meeting agenda, prepares meeting minutes, and directs the development of pharmacy prepared materials.
• Monitors the use of non-formulary medications. Serves as a resource for approval of non-formulary medication requests.
• Conducts periodic Drug Utilization Evaluations and reports the results to the Medication Use Committee. Works to identify high cost medications and develops cost-effective therapeutic alternatives/plans to control pharmacy expenditures.
• Serves as the departmental representative on assigned Network committees.
• Oversees the progression and development of the pharmacy interns. Acts as a resource/mentor for the interns.
• Constructively and actively participates as a member of the core management team. Provides appropriate and constructive input into department projects and initiatives.
• Assumes the responsibilities of the Manager-On-Call on a rotating basis.
• Conducts annual staff performance evaluations in a timely and meaningful manner. Provides feedback, discusses goals, accomplishments and assures staff members are competent to perform required duties.
• Serves as the departmental coordinator of Investigational Drug Services. Provides oversight and supervision of the Investigational Drug Technician and monitor effectiveness through annual performance evaluations
• Responsible for pharmacist core training for new hires.
• Performs other duties as assigned/required by supervisor

Qualifications

Qualifications (include all required education, licenses, certifications, knowledge, skills, and experience):

Graduate of ACPE accredited college of pharmacy (BS or PharmD) required
Computer proficiency required
Previous hospital and IV additive experience preferred
Leadership management preferred not required

Conditions of Employment

Covid Vaccination is a requirement for employment at Jefferson for employees working at Jefferson's clinical entities or at the University.
