This position can be based in New York, Boston, Wilton-CT, or Farmington- CT Senior Underwriting Team Lead Join us as an Senior Underwriting Team Lead to step up to a key role that will drive business growth. The Senior Underwriting Team Lead must be able to illustrate the highest levels of technical proficiency and underwriting acumen combined with marketing and sales skills to meet production underwriting goals while maintaining budgeted loss and expense ratios. Candidates are expected to work effectively in a team environment to develop broker and portfolio strategies in addition to working independently to manage a profitable book of new and renewal business. The Head of Underwriting for the U.S. will rely heavily on this position to assist in guiding, mentoring and training more junior members of the team, as well as to assist in planning and budgeting, collaboration across AIG divisions and building a culture of diversity and inclusion across the team. How you will create an impact This is a key role in our Property team in which you will take ownership for achieving goals and outcomes. You will be tasked with mentoring colleagues and overseeing a range of programs and processes, in addition to handling complex underwriting. You will thrive by successfully balancing the needs of multiple stakeholders and making sound decisions using data, analysis, experience, judgment, and a risk mindset. It will be essential to build effective relationships with brokers and to deliver a high standard of customer service as an example for the team to follow. You will promote a culture of collaboration, inclusivity, and learning while assisting in mentoring and developing colleagues through effective leadership, role modeling, and training programs. You will aim to facilitate personal growth and career development, supporting succession planning. You will also play a key role in new business development, including attending broker events and building new relationships across the market. What you’ll need to succeed Proven underwriting experience in Property and a successful record of selling products to clients. Deep technical expertise. Proven mentoring skills and a record of developing more junior colleagues. The ability to analyze financial statements. Strong communication, networking, and relationship-building skills.
