Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations. Responsibilities: Gathers information, analyzes and interprets data and disseminates information.Responsibilities Position Summary: Responsible for collection and submission of reliable data in databases maintained by the Division of Abdominal Transplantation; and analysis/interpretation of the data as indicated. Helps to conduct quality improvement projects by working with the clinical team to help them outline a project, gather and analyze data. Assisting to ensure the division is in compliance with governmental, departmental and hospital Quality Assurance regulations. Coordinates research projects including planning, recruitment of subjects, data collection and ensuring their regulatory compliance with the IRB and sponsors. (25%) Database Coordination and Support: Implement and maintain the transplant center quality database which includes gathering clinical data about newly transplanted recipients and related donors by reviewing donor charts, EPIC and OTTR. Ensure that database variables are meeting the needs of the clinicians and update existing patient information as necessary. Monitor any data which is gathered by other personnel. Make requested changes to increase reliability of database. Review old sections of database to ensure accuracy of data. Ensure that the database information is secure and regulate the database and access to the database according to HIPAA and RSRB policies and regulations. (10%) UNOS and OPO Reporting: Complete UNOS TIEDI forms as required and report vessel disposition to appropriate OPO and UNOS. Ensure that TIEDI Forms are completed in an accurate and timely manner. Review SRTR variables and maintain a working knowledge of the weights of the variables and the best way to report our results within the SRTR/ TIEDI reporting framework. (30%) Quality Assurance: In collaboration with administrative leadership, participates in the monitoring, reporting, and implementation of improvement activities related to clinical guidelines and healthcare quality/safety initiatives in an effort to ensure the delivery of evidence-based, quality care to solid organ transplant patients - Coordinates the ongoing development, implementation and monitoring of the Division's Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement program as outlined by CMS, the Department of Surgery and the SMH Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement Plan. - Facilitates the tracking and sharing of organ and department specific quality assurance and performance improvement metrics in a transparent manner. Regularly reviews and updates the transplant quality improvement dashboard. - Recommends quality and performance improvement opportunities based on: trends detected from dashboard and (clinical, administrative and financial) databases, hospital and department goals and national benchmarks. - Works closely with Divisional Quality teams to develop processes to improve the quality of care. - Tracks the status of identified problems and opportunities for improvement to assure resolution or improvement, including tracking of compliance with action plans. - Helps organize, attends and helps facilitate the Transplant collaborative QA case review conferences, and meetings related to the management and utilization of quality data. - - - Authors case review documents and ensures that appropriate/comprehensive Divisional peer review is in place. - - Summarizes case reviews and submits to Department QA Administrator on a monthly basis. - - - Keeps abreast of literature related to evidence-based care of transplant patients, communicates to appropriate clinicians in quality review conferences and through transplant journal club - Communicates transplant related quality outcomes and safety issues to appropriate staff, other involved disciplines and clinical areas, and leadership involved in the care of transplant patients, living donors and their families. (30%) Research Projects: Work with the clinical team to utilize the database to ensure continual outcomes analysis review. Conducts/coordinates special research projects with the clinical team. Assists in outlining projects, recruiting and consenting potential subjects, designing data collection instruments, gathering the pertinent information through chart review, and data analysis through basic and complex statistical analysis. Participate in projects involving quality assurance/ QAPI in addition to research papers. Assist with writing and creation of papers, posters and abstracts. (5%) RSRB and HIPAA: Work with RSRB and IT department to secure patient information and regulate the database according to HIPAA and RSRB policies and regulations. Prepare IRB protocols and applications for studies. Ensure that the division remains compliant with all pertinent regulations. Performs other related duties as required. KEY RELATIONSHIPS Reports to the Transplant Quality Manager, Transplant Administrator and the Director of Solid Organ Transplant. Works closely with the transplant surgeons, physicians and other members of the clinical team. Interfaces with the Department of Surgery Research Administrator, and the Transplant Clinical Nurse Managers. Develops relationships with other departments at URMC as needed. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree required. Advanced computer skills. Expertise in data quality and data integrity. Two to five years of experience.
