OVERVIEW:
Provides expert solutioning with Relational Database Management System (RDBMS). Serve as Architect on new complex projects. Provides short and long-term strategic direction for internal application owners in alignment with department goals and their clients. Assists in managing client relations and expectations by serving as trusted advisor in setting customer expectations on application capabilities or application enhancements for assigned application(s) Bank-wide. Serves as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for RDBMS related enterprise-wide initiatives, complex discretionary projects, compliance/regulatory requirements and system changes due to contractual agreements or system maintenance, and as knowledge resource and mentor for less experienced staff. Works with internal application owners in defining optimum functional approaches to achieve efficient and effective RDBMS solutions to their application needs and improve the Bank's Technology Portfolio and Database Development. Maintains a current understanding of assigned applications, enhancements, business process flows and impacting regulatory/compliance matters to ensure future requirements are met through value-added consultation with the business. Represents the Bank at vendor executive Advisory Boards, user conferences and industry events. Owns business continuity and auditing processes.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Consult with internal application owners in analysis of short and long-range business requirements and recommend RDBMS changes that anticipate future business requirements.
Build positive client relationships by addressing client needs in a manner that safeguards their business and customers, with minimal complexity, risks and costs.
Build rapport within the organization, vendors and professional organizations to enhance the reputation of the team and Technology.
Responsible for vendor/product analysis and recommendations.
Translate business requirements to assist staff in preparing detailed functional specifications for database enhancements.
Recommend RDBMS designs related to discretionary enhancement requests, business-as-usual process/efficiency efforts or production problem solutions based on business requirements and technology requirements.
Identify issues and concerns from a design perspective to ensure they are considered and addressed up-front.
Maintain a strong current understanding of the business environment supported to provide expert guidance for technical, business and operational impacts associated with a project or production problem.
Provide guidance and training to less experienced personnel to contribute to their development.
Manage, oversee and/or review execution of complex project plans to ensure understanding of tasks and dependencies and mitigation of issues.
Focus on project execution and production support related to supporting applications.
Work with internal and external application Technology stakeholders to review status of initiatives, compliance/regulatory changes, planned or potential vendor changes and contractual and/or system maintenance changes.
Serve as SME to Application Database Services team in RDBMS functionality and testing efforts of RDBMS changes, inclusive of reviewing business requirements, functional specifications and preparing and executing testing to support employee development.
ssist in coordinating completion of integrated testing efforts to ensure any issues or problems are identified in the test environment.
Recommend RDBMS designs based on business requirements to support internal and external customer needs.
Ensure identification and resolution of issues and concerns related to discretionary enhancement requests, application reliability changes and/or production problem resolution to proactively minimize any negative impact to owners of assigned applications and their users, customers and clients.
Recommend new RDBMS technology and related policies or processes to enhance applications and ensure technical support provided clients is efficient and effective to meet internal and external customer needs.
Provide functional feedback to internal application owners and technology stakeholders on current or proposed vendor software, including how RDBMS software changes/enhancements supports predefined business needs.
Identify performance and effectiveness enhancement opportunities and recommend new policies and procedures that support improvement.
Maintain Company's internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The job holder works under supervision of a Senior Technology Manager and is highly proficient with expert level of technical RDMS knowledge and contributing to solution design, departmental strategies and resource allocations of the department. Responsibilities of the position may include problem resolution, systems development and day-to-day activities. This position assumes responsibility for contributing to the growth and development of less experienced personnel. The position provides and manages training and technical proficiency opportunities for continued staff development and provides backup to more experienced personnel as required. The job holder may be called upon to serve as a technical representative on committees, ad-hoc projects, etc. The position interacts, on a regular basis with Technology staff and leadership, Architecture, the application teams and leadership, as well as vendors.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
ssociates degree and a minimum of 8 years RDBMS experience,
OR in lieu of a degree,
combined minimum of 10 years higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 8 years RDBMS experience.
Prior experience working simultaneously on multiple projects of a complex nature.
Experience leading large system and RDBMS enhancements, conversions, and production problem resolution.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
Bachelors degree or higher.
Minimum of 3 years experience with Bank applications, framework, business needs and RDBMS direction and framework.

Proven mentoring and leadership capabilities in RDBMS project analysis, design, development, troubleshooting and tuning efforts.
Mastery level understanding of multiple RDBMS skills, tools and functions with advanced knowledge of operating systems.
Previous experience in banking RDBMS support.
