It's the perfect opportunity to support consistent patients and the Respiratory Therapists who administer their treatments. The hours for this role are Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM-4:00 PM. No weekends or holidays required Purpose: The Patient Services Representative welcomes patients, educates them on financial matters, schedules appointments, and ensures excellent service at UPMC facilities. Responsibilities: Patient Assistance: Provide clear instructions to help patients navigate the healthcare system. Follow up on unresolved patient questions or needs for continuity of care. Check-In and Scheduling: Guide patients through self-arrival technology or check them in at the front desk. Schedule or connect patients to resources for ancillary services during checkout. Educate patients on financial responsibility and connect them to advocacy resources. Administrative Tasks: Obtain patient consent following HIPAA rules. Verify insurance benefits via online systems or phone inquiries. Promote the MyUPMC patient portal and assist with registration. Collect copayments and other applicable payments at the point of service. Register patients in the Biometrics program and update their information at checkout. High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Experience with computer-based applications, various office equipment and proficient typing skills preferred. Two years of experience in a medical / billing / fiscal or customer service function preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Prior experience with Medipac, Epic, or other health records systems preferred. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: Act 34 UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran
