Summary
Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children's Hospital are significantly expanding their fundamental and translational biomedical research programs relevant to children's and women's health. As part of this expansion, we seek an outstanding basic scientist who works on iPSC-generated human brain organoids and assembloids, performing basic science research on human brain tissue to better understand the underlying causes and potential treatments for neurological disorders. This individual will need be well-versed in developing powerful CRISPR screens to examine the effects of mutations on the development of human brain interneurons and how the regulation and dysregulation of human brain development affects brain health and disease.
Successful candidate will be appointed in the Cain Foundation Laboratories if appropriate.
As part of the Research Vision initiative to recruit and retain the very best investigators from around the country, whose work has the potential to impact children's and/or women's health, the selected candidate must be at the cutting-edge of neuroscience, neurology, or related field as it relates to children's and/or women's health. The candidate must be able to communicate complex information clearly and succinctly. The candidate should demonstrate a track-record of collaboration, mentoring, and rigorous scientific investigation. External, peer-reviewed grant funding (e.g., NIH) is preferred although not required.
