The Role

They are seeking a collaborative and efficient Purchasing/Customer Service Assistant to support their sales and production teams.

The focus of this position is working with and through others, building and maintaining relationships, and working closely and accurately within established guidelines. Must be an effective communicator, someone who is able to stimulate and motivate others while being aware of and responsive to their needs and concerns. The person in this position must be friendly and genuinely interested in the business and needs of others, including the company, the team, and the company's customers.

A faster than average pace will be the norm for this position. Each day is different from the next and will usually have multiple projects going simultaneously. Detail work is a major focus of the job, and those details need to be handled quickly, correctly, and efficiently. This portion of the work will often focus on relationships with others; correct handling of details dealing with others is necessary to maintain and grow relationships. Necessary corrections must be made in a constructive, supportive manner. As time is a factor, the work must be done on time, as well as correctly. This is a position where guidelines, structure, and established policies must be followed closely. The successful candidate will be a valued member of our team who performs a supportive role to the Customer Service Manager.

Essential Duties:

  • Act as a liaison between vendors and shop personnel for project needs. Coordinate scheduling for services and follow up on inquiries from vendors and management.
  • Monitor stock of various supplies around the shop. Accepts requisition forms from shop personnel. Confirms purchasing permission with management if necessary.
  • Purchase tools, materials, and consumable goods for use in the shop and office.
  • Create, organize, and store necessary purchasing documents.
    • Have a working understanding of internal Quality Policy and Objectives as they pertain to systems this role manages. Familiar with applicable customer requirements and standards.
  • Assess supplier/provider capabilities to support company needs
  • Maintain knowledge of customer trends and track historical quotes
  • Process customer change orders
  • Monitor customer portals to support production
  • Working understanding of manufacturing software program (E2) as used by production team
  • Develop an understanding of customer specific reporting, including research and data entry
  • Future job expansion:
    • Management and oversight of quote tracking system
    • Participate in customer calls and discussions
    • Management of small volume customers

Your Qualifications:

  • Ability to work in a team-oriented and fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal and written skills required.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100 and industry standards preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is required.
  • Familiarity with MRP/ERP systems preferred.
  • High School graduate or GED
  • 3+ years of industry experience; preferably in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
