Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Job Specialty: Neuro Med-Surg Acute Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour shifts, three days a week, including every other weekend and holiday Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Med/Surg Neuro experience License: Active RN Certifications: BLS - American Heart, NIHSS certification Must-Have: - Understanding of a Drug-Free Campus policy- Flexibility to float to various general medical units such as Nephrology, Oncology, Ortho, Adult Medical Surgical, Surgical, Rehab, and Cardiac Job Description: - Perform general nursing duties including assessments every 4 hours, medication administration, reassessment of interventions, and assisting with activities of daily living.- Manage blood administration, apply back and neck braces, facilitate G-tube feeding, and perform IV insertion and maintenance.- Utilize central lines for use and maintenance, manage pain, and conduct dressing changes, oral care, and patient turning.- Apply restraints when necessary and follow all established protocols for patient safety.- Care for a diverse range of neuroscience patients, including those recovering from neck and back spinal surgery, stroke, brain tumor treatments, seizures, head injuries, multiple sclerosis, myasthenia gravis, peripheral neuropathy, encephalopathy, and spinal fractures.- Utilize equipment such as EPIC, Vocera, Pyxis, and no lift equipment in most rooms.- Maintain a nurse-to-patient ratio of 4-5 on days and 5-6 on nights as per schedule requirements.- Participate in a 3-day orientation program involving training and clinical orientation with a preceptor.- Adhere to dress code with professional matching scrubs; tattoos and piercings must be covered while on duty.This opportunity allows for engagement in a dynamic and supportive environment with opportunities for professional growth and development.
