JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provides the basics of health care, focusing on wellness and prevention.
  • Focuses on the patient's overall health. Ensures that the patient and family/caregivers receive recommended screenings and risk assessments.
  • Demonstrates broad clinical knowledge and attention to detail that is necessary to cover all possible diagnoses in a limited time.
  • Demonstrates excellent communications skills, listening skills, and the ability to extract the pertinent information from patients, who are sick or injured and not at their best, as well as their family/caregivers.
  • Demonstrates compassion, patience, and engagement in shared decision-making with patients and their family/caregivers, regarding treatment choices and goals of care.
  • Makes appropriate referrals to specialists, while continuing to manage the overall care of patients and communicating with specialists as needed.
  • Demonstrates the ability to transform practice from individual patient management to population health management by embracing team-based management and alternative visits through telehealth, telephone, email, etc.
  • Provides care in a team-based model with a focus on preventive medicine, complex care management, transitional care management, chronic disease management, and acute illness visits.
  • Demonstrates philosophical alignment with patient-centered, team-based care and commitment to patient-centered approach to healthcare delivery, along with strong relationship-building, communication, and active listening skills.
  • Actively seeks and appropriately responds to patients' preferences and values, and works with the entire multidisciplinary care team to support patients in achieving their goals.
  • Understands, values, and optimizes the roles of each member of the health care team, and work collaboratively with team members, patients, and their caregivers to achieve coordinated, high-quality care.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Pediatric Primary care doctors provide a spectrum of care:
  • Diagnoses and treats medical conditions within their area of specialty
  • Forms personal relationships with patients to facilitate a partnership for health and wellness.
  • Listens and responds to patients' and caregiver needs.
  • Makes recommendations to optimize their health.
  • Orders appropriate preventive screenings and tests that can help prevent the onset of chronic diseases.
  • Monitors health risk assessments.
  • Provides preventive care and teaches healthy lifestyle choices to the patient and family/caregivers as applicable.
  • Helps patients get referrals to medical specialists when necessary.
  • Evaluates the urgency of medical problems and directs patient to the best place for care.
  • Works as part of a team to achieve the best outcome for the patient and
  • family/caregivers.
  • Delegates work to team members as appropriate to provide highly effective patient care.
  • Supervises medical students and residents during rotations.
Performs duties as the health care provider, consultant, educator, researcher, and administrator, as appropriate.
  • Prepares for, attends, and participates in team meetings and huddles.
  • Delegates and assigns therapeutic measures to assistive personnel as appropriate.
  • Collaborates in developing team priorities, patient goals and care plans.
  • Partners with other disciplines to enhance care through activities such as education, consultation, collaboration, development of new management and therapeutic strategies, and/or research.
  • Models expert practice to the interdisciplinary team members, families and the community.
OVERSEES/RESPONSIBLE FOR ADMINISTRATIVE FUNCTIONS:
  • Responsible for accurate documentation of patient status and care:
  • Complies with organizational policies and procedures, regulatory agencies, institutional and operating systems.
  • Complies with Corporate Compliance policies and code of conduct.
  • Complies with HIPAA regulations.
  • Prepares medical records, clinical reports and correspondences.
  • Supervises team of nurses, physician assistants and medical assistants.
  • Attends meetings and participate in committees that better the organization.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Maintains quality assurance and professional competence:
  • Participates in quality assurance review.
  • Participates in Continuing Education Programs.
  • Maintains certification in compliance with current state law.
  • Observes all safety and health regulations.
  • Complies with Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations
  • (JCAHO) and accrediting agencies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • During the period of employment, shall be and remain a member of the QMC medical staff in good standing with appropriate privileges without restriction.


Base salary begins at $229,395/year with opportunity for productivity and quality incentives.
