Open until filled The School District of Beloit is currently looking for three (3)) Occupational Therapists. These are full time/permanent positions based on a 192 day Professional Educator Contract. Candidates must hold Wisconsin license: WI Department of Public Instruction Occupational Therapy license #1812 and Wisconsin Department Public Health Services Occupational Therapist license. Candidates will work with students in grades K-12. Prefer candidate be familiar with IEP plan paperwork, experience with inclusive therapy and sensory needs, knowledge of school based services and MA billing process. Experience working with autistic students preferred. Previous school experience is also helpful. Minority and bilingual speaking candidates are encouraged to apply. Salary offers are based on education and years of experience. Start date: August 22, 2023.

Job Purpose
Occupational Therapists use purposeful activity to facilitate a child's active participation in self-maintenance; academic and vocational pursuits; and play or leisure activities that occur in school environments. School-based Occupational Therapists will use direct and indirect services, assistive technology, and environmental modifications to help implement a child's special education program.

Duties and responsibilities
Instructs students individually and in group settings in both special education classroom and the regular education environment
Participates in the IEP team process to develop, review, evaluate, and implement Individual Education Programs (IEP) for students with disabilities.
Responsible for informing regular education teachers of IEP if applicable.
Monitors and evaluates students' work and progress based on tests, reports, work samples, and observations and keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.
Assists with diagnosis (testing/evaluation) and writes related reports.
Develops a treatment plan to outline the specific occupational therapy intervention that will assist the child in meeting the goals and objectives.
Identifies pupil needs and develops and implements strategies for IEPs and 504 plans.
Orders and maintains an inventory of equipment.
Provides qualitative and quantitative feedback to students and parents, participates in parent/teacher conferences, and open houses.
Provides training to the appropriate person to carry over therapy goals in the school setting.
Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective and safe learning environment.
Responsible for set-up, maintenance, and cleaning of treatment areas and OT equipment.
Participates in building, content area, and grade-level meetings as required.
Attends meetings and conferences and participates in other activities to promote professional growth.
Acts as an advocate for the student with special education staff, regular education staff, supervisors, administrators, community resources, and parents

Qualifications
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Certification in Occupational Therapy (code 812) or eligibility to obtain this license
Certification as Occupational Therapist (code 26) though the State of Wisconsin Department of Regulation and Licensing
This position is itinerant, so the individual hired must have their own transportation, a valid driver's license, and be able to drive between school districts.

Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree from an accredited college or university
3-5 years of direct experience.

Working conditions
Most work is done within a school. The OT may need to assist outside or in other parts of the building or other locations within the District.
Physical requirements
Continually traversing corridors. Must occasionally remain in a stationary position, sitting or standing, for up to 4 hours. Operates office and medical equipment frequently. Frequently lifts/moves/carries objects/students up to 35 pounds. Occasionally must position themself to lower heights under 4', stooping or squatting. Understands complex problems and explores alternative solutions.
